#### Admire the whitewashed colonial buildings surrounding this enchanting park that overlooks the range of boats and islands in Carioca Bay.

Bandeira Square is a coastal plaza and park located close to Paraty’s historic center. Surrounded by cobbled lanes and quaint buildings with brightly colored doors, the park comprises grassy patches and a range of exotic vegetation. Come here to enjoy some stunning views of the Carioca Bay, which is decorated by a row of colorful boats.

Relax on one of the benches facing the water and consider embarking on a boat tour of the nearby islands. Snap photos of the verdant, undulating terrain of the promontories and islands off the bay. Lay down a blanket for a picnic with your family on a grassy area in the plaza. You can relax beneath the branches of the trees for shady relief on a hot and sunny day.

Stroll along the charming paths that meander through this square to encounter its central monument, consisting of a stone block supporting a cross. Inspect the historic cannons along the coast, pointing outwards toward the water. The buildings surrounding the square have a range of red, green, blue and yellow doors that stand out from their clean, whitewashed façades.

Chat with the friendly locals who come here to walk their dogs. Discover the variety of cafés and shops on the narrow alleys splitting off from the plaza. Try the seafood specialties at one of the many restaurants in the area. On the square’s southeastern side is the Paraty Port, which is flanked by a large row of boats.

Bandeira Square is in the southeastern corner of the historic center of Paraty. A pier branches off from the southeastern side of the square, which flanks the waters of the Carioca Bay. Take the time to visit nearby attractions and landmarks, including Pontal Beach, the Church of Our Lady of the Remedies and the Paraty Museum of Sacred Art.

Staff was fantastic, great suggestions for what to do. Was a little disappointed with my room. I thought I’d paid for a balcony but got a patio instead so not much of a view. Beautiful property, food is excellent, I would definitely stay here again. It’s a great alternative to the beach. Lots of character and charm.

The service and location are both exceptional. The property was very clean, but dated. The towels had clearly seen better days, the tub was a high step in and didn’t have a grab bar, and the tub was very slow draining. The lounge was small but lovely with great food and drinks. The breakfast buffet was exceptional. The beach chairs and umbrellas were lovely and the view from our ocean side room was great. The staff were all great - exceeded expectations. You can’t ask for a better location but is more of a Marriott with great service than a typical JW Marriott property.
