The property is set back from the lake and has incredible 360 degree views. It's just 10 mins drive from Bala and walking distance to the lake. Sliding doors from the lounge open onto a large front garden which enjoys a stunning view of the lake and mountains. In the garden there's a large picnic bench table where you can enjoy BBQs and relax with nature. I fell in love with Glyn Mawr as soon as I saw it and bought it soon after. I had never seen a place like this before with it's incredible, unique view and 360 degree aspect which makes you feel embedded in nature. There is something special about this valley, it's very peaceful and after a few days here you really forget about the stresses of life and completely relax. When you are here there are no signs of civilisation, just the trees, rolling hills, mountains, sheep, birds and lake. What I found here was an uninhabitable barn facing the lake. I set about plans to renovate it and did it in the most ecological way possible so the building is both healthy to be in and has a low impact on the environment. I put in renewable energy systems and used natural materials such as sheep's wool insulation and hemp lime plaster. I opened up the space inside to make it open plan living that enjoys the amazing views across the lake and mountains. There are oak framed triple glazed doors and windows, wool carpets throughout, limestone tiles in the bathrooms and original Welsh stone slabs in the kitchen. The kitchen is hand made out of local Welsh oak by a friend who put a lot of time and love into it. There is a large range cooker in the kitchen as well as a fridge, washer dryer and everything you need to cook and eat with. There is a large solid wood eight seater table in the dining room, three sofas in the lounge (one of them a sofa bed) with a solid wood coffee table and a wood burner seated in an inglenook fireplace. The house is so well insulated (walls and roof) that it barely needs any heating and stays cool in the summer. The beds have memory foam mattresses on them to add extra comfort (incl. the sofa bed). It was painful not to be able to stay longer. Everyone else mentions the view. Why wouldn't they? It really is special. But the very high level of comfort inside, combined with the unspoilt rural scene outside, are also magic. If you love peace and a sense of remoteness, but prefer the choice of darting straight into perfect comfort if the weather changes, this may be just the property you are looking for. There is scenery galore in this region, so walks and trips around are there for the taking. Simon the owner was quick to respond to my several messages, in the kindest way. (Hmm, by writing this honestly positive review I risk others booking and filling the place up when I want to rent it again. I must be mad!) ##### Angela B. The cottage is in the most beautiful location where all you can hear is the nearby brook. The view is spectacular. Inside the cottage is impeccable and the owner Simon has thought of everything for his guests. A fantastic welcome pack covered tea and breakfast for our family of 6\. We had a wonderful stay walking up Mount Aran and along the nearby river. Coming back to the cosy cottage was bliss to watch the sun set over lake Bala and then amazing starry nights in the valley. The bedrooms are really comfy and the shower was the best in ages. The kitchen is really well equipped. We would definately highly recommend this fantastic cottage and hope to visit again soon. ##### Tonia F.
