"We visited low season but for us it was perfect. We stayed 5 nights, mid. June. The staff were wonderfully friendly and polite. Whilst part of the hotel was closed, junior suite, for renovation it did not affect us in any way. The weather was just right to, Not too hot or wet. Rain came late afternoon in the form of a sprinkle twice and overnight once but nothing much. We were lucky I'm sure but I think it's the right time of year to go, any other must get unbelievable hot. Mandalay was 40 ish...

"A very hospitable new hotel about 4km outside Kalaw in a quiet area with fantastic rural views. Still getting established and with plans for a pool and spa. Great food and the staff could not be more friendly or helpful. A little quiet while we were there but probably due to low season approaching and getting themselves set up."

"We stayed for 3 nights after a trek from Kalaw. The bedrooms are large with the most comfortable beds in Myanmar... and sumptuous white bedding ! Lots of hot water and good a/c. Hotel is on the edge of town so quiet and great for catching up on sleep! Only 10mins walk (5mins cycle) or less to everywhere in town. Hotel provides free bikes to get around. We organised a couple of trips on Inle lake via hotel which was excellent value with good boat drivers who collect you from the hotel - beats...

"This resort was a HUGE highlight of my trip to Myanmar. The staff was so friendly and helped in every way that they could. "Pros 1\. Rooms are just okay - spartan (not big) along with toothbrush, toothpaste, bath gel, shampoo 3\. Free water bottle per day 4\. Refilling of water near the reception area 5\. good Restaurants within 20 metres 6\. Very Nice balcony - you can see the sunrise sitting in your room (provided you get the road facing room) and spend time with your friends in the huge balcony. 7\. Exceptional location 8\. Reasonably good Breakfast - they will take you to a nearby restaurant Cons 1\. Staff hardly understands English (it is true for almost all the hotels we stayed in Myanmar) 2\. There is no AC or Fan. We had to tell them to give a table fan - which they gave. Considering it is a hill station , it is not a big problem. But since the height of the hill station is not great - the temperature is not that cold - when we stayed 3.When we came the owner was not there & hotel staff initially said there is no booking in our name. The hotel booking is in the name of Golden Kalaw Inn, whereas the name mentioned Infront of the hotel is Hotel Golden Kalaw.So when they said there is no booking in your name, we thought it must be some other hotel 4\. Then they said we are not supposed to get any breakfast - which was also not correct. Later they did provide breakfast. 5\. Then the owner said they have received payment only for 1 room and not two rooms - this is also not correct. I had to explain this to her for 6-7 min. Later we were allotted two rooms. All this causes lot of anxiety to the tourits"
