A very nice place to stay & relax. The facility is a bit old but well maintained & always clean. I love it because it’s a pet friendly resort. The room we got is the oceanfront room & it’s all worth it. The receptionist Roxy was very nice, accommodating & knowledgeable. Will definitely stay again here. Highly recommended.

The person who greeted and checked us in was very welcoming and helpful. However, the room had only one chair, no desk or table, and the king bed was so far over to the wall that there was no night stand on that side and access to the bed was only on one side or by crawling in from the end.....very awkward in the middle of the night when crawling over the other person to get in and out of the bed. There was also no in-room coffee and we had to wait until the staff opened the office to get a cup of coffee at 7:30 a.m. It was an accessible room (which we did not need) and we noticed the following. A person confined to a wheelchair could not have hung anything in the closet (too high), or reached the bathroom sink, soap, etc., as the faucet was too high and the towels were placed in the lower level near the floor. Also, for someone wheelchair bound, the bed was very high.

The last time we stayed here, it was still called San Simeon Pines. While the rooms have been updated in design, everything has been mostly preserved. Still a charming place to stay when at Moonstone Beach, farther away from the rest of the hotels but still walkable. Check-in was easy and staff very friendly. Most of the time you can find parking directly in front of your room. We saw lots of families checking in and there are grounds that are fun to explore. We got a fireplace King which came with a fire starter bundle. Watch the fire! The pieces in the bundle fell towards the front of the fireplace while burning. Don't leave unattended. Duraflame would work fine, or they have extra bundles for sale in the lobby. The room updates were nice - things like the windows and the heater are a bit older, the bathroom window did not close all the way so had a bit of a draft. The bath itself was renovated, clean and had plenty of room. There was a large lighted mirror and coffee and a fridge are included. Note that there is no longer complimentary breakfast here. There is a restaurant which is closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. You will need to find your meals elsewhere on those days. Overall we still love this place on Moonstone Beach and we will be back.
