The lakeside of the house faces the south, with east to west sun exposure - providing breathtaking sunsets! Also seen from the point are views of Duncan Bridge and Clear Creek. This house is located minutes from the town of Arley and is in sight of Duncan Bridge Marina. Gorgeous cottage with covered porches across the front and back of the house! The screened porch facing the lake, spans the length of the house and is perfect for watching the sunset. There is a spacious flat lawn leading down to the dock, with a fire pit for your enjoyment. The gas log fireplace (inside) is available for Winter rentals during the cooler months. There is a boat launch on the property. The dock includes a covered boat slip with additional places to tie off, and a swim pier. Lily pad, cornhole and Giant Jenga for entertainment. There is no power to the dock. The water level at the dock is good until 498 msl (full pool is 510 msl). The boat ramp on the property is good to 500 msl. Check for water levels. There are two flat screen TV's on the property, one in the living room, one in the family room. Both televisions have DIRECT TV satellite service. The house has WIFI internet service. Fully stocked kitchen with a Keurig coffee maker and traditional drip style coffee maker. Bedroom #1: King size bed - master - on the main level Bedroom #2: King size bed - upper level Bedroom #3: King size bed - upper level Additional sleeping on fold out sofa. Ave Maria Grotto, in Cullman, Alabama, is a landscaped, 4-acre park in an old quarry on the grounds of St. Bernard Abbey, providing a garden setting for 125 miniature reproductions of some of the most famous religious structures of the world. It was added to the Alabama Register of Landmarks and Heritage on February 24, 1976, and to the National Register of Historic Places on January 19, 1984. The stone and concrete models are the work of Brother Joseph Zoettl, a Benedictine monk of St. Bernard's Abbey, who devoted some 50 years to the project, the last three decades (1932 to 1961) almost without interruption. They incorporate discarded building supplies, bricks, marbles, tiles, pipes, sea shells, marbles, plastic animals, costume jewellery, toilet bowl floats and cold cream jars. Born in 1878 in the Kingdom of Bavaria, Brother Joseph was maimed in an accident that left him slightly hunched due to cervical kyphosis. He immigrated to the United States as a teenager, settling in northern Alabama. Soon afterward he began studying at the newly founded Benedictine monastery of St. Bernard, where he took his vows in 1897. Br. Joseph was not allowed to be ordained as a priest, due to the rule of the period that stated any man with a distracting disability could not be ordained a priest. He ran the monastery’s power plant and was, even by a monk's standards, a withdrawn, quiet man. Not going to stay there The land is beautiful. The exterior of the house is old, tired and green slimed. The front porch furniture is broken and you can't sit. You walk in and the musty smell hits. Inside is very dark unlike pictures. So of course you to blinds to open to give you light and the blind falls on your head. The pictures show brown leather couches. What is there is some sofas covered under chocolate colored blankets. I dared not look underneath. The pictures show the back of a red leather chair. that was the final straw. When you walked to front of chair, someone had sat in it so long, there was a huge black head stain - disgusting and several other body stains on the chair. At that point, we turned around and walked out of this house. All den furniture as shown in pictures is totally misleading and what is there is beyond gross. You couldn't pay me to sit on any of it. AN EXTREMELY ANGRY FAMILY who let immediately and no one has offered to refund us a dime. Don't get us wrong - this could be a beautiful place but the furniture is simply disgusting. The view is lovely, it’s just down from the bridge and marina to be convenient, but far enough away to not be bothered by any traffic. The National Forest is directly across from this home, so beautiful, undeveloped areas to enjoy. The house was clean, and had most anything you need - a little shy on pots and mixing bowls but the knives were sharp! We would definitely stay here again ##### Heather A. However, it was not as clean as we would have like (mold on both shower curtains, items left under beds and in drawers by previous renters). Also, the coffee maker did not work, and I had to call twice to get told to go purchase one, and I would get reimbursed. One ceiling fan on the porch did not work. I reported this but never heard back from the property manager. Finally, we were told there was power at the end of the walkway to the dock. That power cable had been severed. In spite of these problems, the porch is fabulous, and we enjoyed beautiful sunsets while swimming from the dock. The house is spacious and worked well for our family of five adults.
