![Medina - Chefchaouen, Morocco
It is known for the blue washed walls and doorways in the old city. Narrow alleys, cobbled walkways, stairs up and down, leading in all directions. 

Chefchaouen's powder blue buildings mirror the cloudless Moroccan sky - but religious rather than stylistic reasons are behind the design choice. Jewish teachings suggest that by dyeing thread with tekhelel (an ancient natural dye) and weaving it into prayer shawls, people would be reminded of God's power. The tradition lives on in the regularly repainted blue buildings.

The walls are adorned with carpets, purses, blankets, paintings  and much more. It was quite an adventure to get lost in the tiny lanes and alleys and discover the many berber shops and products.

« Même si notre séjour dans cet établissement était de courte durée, soient deux nuitées, nous avons particulièrement adoré l'emplacement et aussi les lieux intérieurs du Palais Zahia. La chambre était confortable avec toutes les commodités nécessaires. Le WiFi ne permettait pas de se "loguer" lorsque la porte érait fermée. Donc, pour remédier à cette situation, laissant une fenêtre béante, permettait une meilleure capacité de chargement. Le déjeuner, de type continental, était présenté avec une...

« This was our first visit to Morocco and we wanted to be in the medina. We loved this hotel! The staff was very friendly and gave excellent recommendations. Breakfast was fantastic; we ate once on the rooftop terrace and once on the floor underneath. We recommend getting to breakfast right when it starts and not sitting on the rooftop—it gets a little hot and the seagulls can be a nuisance. The hotel is a five minute walk to the kasbah and good restaurants, and maybe 20-25 minutes to the...

It is known for the blue washed walls and doorways in the old city. Narrow alleys, cobbled walkways, stairs up and down, leading in all directions. 

Chefchaouen's powder blue buildings mirror the cloudless Moroccan sky - but religious rather than stylistic reasons are behind the design choice. Jewish teachings suggest that by dyeing thread with tekhelel (an ancient natural dye) and weaving it into prayer shawls, people would be reminded of God's power. The tradition lives on in the regularly repainted blue buildings.

The walls are adorned with carpets, purses, blankets, paintings  and much more. It was quite an adventure to get lost in the tiny lanes and alleys and discover the many berber shops and products.
