![Slovenia is full of remarkable places to visit. A few hours northeast of Ljubljana, the capital, lies a region of alpine valleys that will take your breath away. I took this photo shortly after sunrise on the ridge between two of those valleys.

Having your own set of wheels certainly makes getting around this area a lot easier. For accommodation I'd recommend Luce, a small town a stone's throw away from the action, where there are a few options.

The trails can be hard to locate and very slippery when covered with snow so tread carefully or, preferably, wait until it disappears.

« Très sympa auberge de jeunesse qui propose des chambres avec des sanitaires privés en plein centre de Kranj. La chambre au 2ème étage propose une superbe vue sur la végétation autour de la rivière, c'est vraiment chouette ! Le petit-déjeuner est convenable (pain, yaourts, céréales) mais le café est vraiment mauvais ! Il manque toutefois quelques restaurants dans la ville qui est assez calme. »

« This is an EXCEPTIONAL guesthouse with the most amazingly kind, thoughtful and generous host. Every single day she left us small treats (croissants in the morning, beers or cakes in the evening) and was ful of good advice and tourist information. The guesthouse felt brand new - rooms incredibly clean and comfortable, with all necessary items for a confortable stay. The kitchen was an added bonus, and again this was perfectly clean and well equipped (microwave, dishwaser, washing machine...)....

« L'auberge est située dans un.ancien monastère. L'endroit est paisible, les chambres sont confortables. Le seul bémol est l'insonorisation entre les chambres et le couloir. Il y a eu beaucoup de bruit des autres occupants. C'est regrettable surtout quand on choisit ce lieu pour sa quiétude. L'établissement de devrait rappeler les règles à ses clients. Il y a une cuisine mais notre hôtesse ne nous en a pas parlé, c'est dommage car nous avions de quoi faire à manger, notamment pour les petits...

« Nous n’avons pas eu d’informations part rapport à notre arrivée. Pas de code pour le coffre à clé ! Heureusement que la femme de ménage avait du retard, ce qui nous a permis d’accéder au logement. Chalet dans son jus méritant un coup de frais. Mauvaise communication concernant les frais de linge. Nous avons eu la mauvaise surprise d’avoir la visite un matin d’une personne venant nous réclamer ces frais (79€!!). L’annonce est aussi trompeuse part rapport au nombre de sdb. Une simple douche dans...
