Sofitel Washington DC Lafayette Square opened as a hotel in 2002 in a late-19th-century building that retains its historic grandeur, with plenty of dark wood, marble, and original works of art throughout the public areas.
The hotel, in downtown Washington, DC, offers six meeting rooms that carry the names of Parisian landmarks (Bastille) and districts (Montmartre). “Fantastic Hotel and location”
We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights end November. From the moment we arrived nothing was too much trouble. Checked in which took all of a minute no forms to fill in etc and they upgraded our room as it was a special occassion for no extra cost. Free coffee each morning in the bar supplied with cups and lids to take out which was very useful. Great location 2 mins walk from The Whitehouse. Felt very safe at night and used the Tour mobile which did the DC area AND Arlington Cemetary and is the only bus to do this or at least the only bus where you dont have to pay an extra charge at Arlington - Great Value. I am a little fussy when it comes to Hotels etc but could not fault this hotel 10/10 all the other reviews re the large bathroom and great beds are true. Would definaitely go back.

“The little more is worth a lot!”
After a daylong travel from Connecticut to Washington DC by car, it was wonderful to be met curbside by the courteous valets at the Sofitel. Check-in was quick and easy and we were off to find our room within minutes. The room was very pleasant - clean, quiet, cozy, and well designed. The bed was as comfortable as home, which is a real treat for weary travelers. The hotel is very well situated for a walking tour of the White House, monuments, and museums as well as a multitude of dining options. In short, I loved my stay at the Sofitel.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Washington Sofitel, service was pleasant and friendly; rooms were comfortable, and hotel was conveniently located near public transport and many tourist attractions.
“Great Place to Stay”
The Sofitel in Washington, DC was phenomonal. Besides being in a very convenient location to all of the monuments and museums, the hotel itself is very inviting and quiet. The hotel staff was very friendly and accomodating. The room was a decent size for a city hotel, with large windows and a gorgeous, spacious marble bathroom. Usually I have problems with hotel walls being very thin and hearing my neighbors, but I did not hear a thing at the Sofitel! Room service was expeditious and the food was great and not overly expensive. I don't think I would stay anywhere else in the DC area and would highly recommend this to hotel to others.

We would highly recommend this hotel. The staff was very helpful and our room was clean, spacious, and quiet. An added plus was the large, HD television. The location was outstanding, just a block from the White House. We would definitely stay here again.
“Very Nice Beautique Business Hotel near White House”
This is one of my favorite hotels when traveling to DC for political business...it is very conveniently located near the White House and Metro station. Its a smaller beautique hotel and has a nice conference room facility if you need to book a business meeting...recommended.
“What a wonderfully run hotel ...”
Last weekend my family met at the hotel to celebrate my father's 83rd birthday. The staff learned of his birthday and greeted him each day by name and wished him happy birthday on his birthday. Needless to say he was very touched. The concierge desk to the bellmen were all sincerely polite. We couldn't have had a better experience.
