the heart of the medieval town of Villeneuve-lès-Avignon. Take advantage of the calm environment of this 5 star hotel while been very close by the historic monuments of Avignon.
Room Amenities
Rooms
Calm and elegance are the order of the day in this historic hotel. Its 39 rooms were completely reconceived and renovated in a pure, modern style by Geneviève and Jean-André Charial, owners of the emblematic L’Oustau de Baumanière and La Cabro d’Or in Les Baux-de-Provence, and creators of Les Maisons de Baumanière.
Dining
Fabien Fage, the chef from Arles who trained with France’s top chefs, uses market-fresh regional produce to create dishes inspired by Mediterranean that are in perfect harmony with the exceptional surroundings in which they are served. On sunny days, you can enjoy his innovative cuisine outside on a flower-scented terrace. The hotel garden, with its profusion of roses and its wisteria-draped pergola, is ideal for a peaceful stroll.
Recreation
On site : tennis court and swimming pool
Nearby : the vineyards of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, historic sights of Villeneuve les Avignon (Chartreuse Pontificale, Fort Saint André, Eglise Collégiale Notre Dame) and of Avignon (Pont St Bénezet, Palais des Papes, Musée du petit Palais, Cathédrale Notre Dame des Doms...)

“A Great Provence Experience”
Le Prieure met our expectations for a Relais & Chateaux property. The setting was beautiful, the staff was very friendly and helpful, the room was well appointed and comfortable, and we had a wonderful dinner at the hotel on Saturday evening. We stayed three nights at Le Prieure. Options for dinner nearby on Sunday and Monday nights were limited but we did find a chariming cafe around the corner. We did have a bit of trouble locating the hotel initially and resorted to our Blackberry GPS to guide us to the hotel, where we did find ample parking and a staff ready to help us settle in. One suggestion we would make relates to the bathroom shower, which was a hand held device in the bathtub. There was hardly a dry surface after my husband took his shower. Adding a glass door of some sort would definitely help keep the bathroom dry. Overall, our stay at Le Prieure in Villeneuve-les-Avignon was delightful and we would definitely stay there again.
“Excellent”
Hotel was excellent and only two minor complaints - pillows in bedroom were far too soft and the shower was not great - both would have been resolved I'm sure if we could have been bothered to raise with staff! Everything else about the place was wonderful - beautiful grounds, helpful staff (a particular thank you to the girl at the poolside who had a smile on her face every day and couldn't do enough to make us feel welcome - I'm ashamed to say I didn't get her name), peaceful, village within walking distance of the hotel with warm, friendly locals, a couple of excellent restaurants and if more excitement was required, Avignon was just a stone's throw away. Can't wait to pay a return visit.
“Fab!”
A fabulous boutique hotel - I would give it a 5-star rating. I have stayed at numerous hotels around the world and this one is wonderful. I was particularly impressed with the quality of the staff and their exceptional attentiveness. They serve lovely champagne (sip it by the pool) and in the morning bake the most delightful pain au chocolat. A definitely come-back-to destination!
“Tres belles prestations”
Tres bon restaurant gastronomique.
“A haven of peace near the heart of Avignon”
A totally charming and well run hotel within easy reach of Avignon. A half hourly bus service or short taxi ride ensures the best of both worlds - culture and relaxation. Large gardens with plenty of seating under shade-giving plane trees and a large swimming pool are great to retreat to after the bustle of the city. Rooms are spacious and well designed, most with terraces or balconies. A high class restaurant completes the picture but prices are high for both dinner and breakfast. Villeneuve is a lovely and fascinating village in it's own right.
“Great Staff”
The hotel staff were extremely professional and helpful. In fact, on the day I checked out, there was a thunderstorm and my taxi did not show up to take me to the TGV train station. The supervising staff member personally drove me to the train station. I was lucky to have caught my train. Also, this hotel is situated in a quiet neighborhood, just across the river from the old city. This was a very nice break after spending a noisy week inside the old city.
“This is a stunning hotel!”
I would highly recommend staying in this hotel, this place oozes quality and style. The perfect place to relax in style and comfort with a gourmet restaurant. It is also ideally located in Villeneuve if you want to venture out to the local restaurants and coffee shops.
“Adresse de charme et qualité”
L'hôtel appartient au groupement Ralais et Châteaux. Adresse excellente, quant à la beauté du lieu, le confort des chambres, la qualité de la table et la chaleur de l'acceuil. Idéalement situé au coeur du village.
“PERFECT”
A GEM HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
