Myrtle Beach Vacations
Myrtle Beach is a jewel along the glittering "Grand Strand," 60 miles (97 kilometers) of perfect sandy coastline in South Carolina. The sun shines most of the year here, so you’ll have plenty of chances to explore the many beaches, waterways and wildlife reserves.
Most people associate Myrtle Beach with relaxation because of its glorious beaches, luxurious golf courses and abundant nature. While it’s a great place to rejuvenate, Myrtle Beach is by no means a sleepy town. There’s plenty to do to get your heart racing. Take the family to the city’s theme parks, race around the Nascar SpeedPark or join an alligator tour.
The downtown Boardwalk’s SkyWheel offers the perfect way to get your bearings. Enjoy views of the surrounding Atlantic Ocean and forests from a high point of almost 200 feet (61 meters). Nearby MagiQuest has great family fun, too. Your kids will love becoming wizards and performing magic as they play in the world’s largest live-action game.
Stroll along the Boardwalk and indulge in some of the scrumptious old-time eateries. Peaches Corner, established in 1937, is a Myrtle Beach institution known for heavenly milkshakes. Visit Mammy’s Kitchen for their famous breakfast buffet.
This picturesque town offers something for everyone. Art lovers will appreciate the local collection at the Art Museum of Myrtle Beach. Nature enthusiasts can spot local flora and fauna during wildlife excursions at Huntington Beach State Park and Brookgreen Gardens. Visit the private Waccatee Zoo to view species up close.
Check out the countryside around Myrtle Beach, which was used for rice production until the end of the Civil War. Drive south to quaint Georgetown and visit the Rice Museum. This interesting exhibition takes you to the days when South Carolina ran on slave labor. Continue your journey back in time at the nearby Hopsewee Plantation, one of the oldest and wealthiest plantation homes in South Carolina.
Myrtle Beach always has plenty of Southern hospitality. Friendly locals are happy to point the way and have a chat about their charming town. Along the Grand Strand it’s easy to feel at home, from the golf courses to the Boardwalk.
