“Great value for a short stay”

Hotel staff really helpful. Hotel small & down a very narrow street but typical of many we saw. Modern and very clean/tidy with basic but good breakfast. Hotel is situated centrally and easy walking distance to all major attractions, particularly the Trevii Fountain, however the Vatican is further so we took the metro which is very close/cheap. Large range of good value pavement cafe/restaurants near Hotel especially as you walk directly from the Hotel to the Trevii which is a crowd puller. Standard of cafes/restaurants seemed to decline the closer you got to the Trevii. Take same direct route for Colosium, Piaza Novona, Pantheon etc which are 10-15 minute easy walk. Recommend booking Vatican online via the Rome Official Tourist Info Site since ques without tickets were enormous and see early morning (same for some Museums & Palatine/Forum/Colosium which can be on same ticket) Didnt use tour guides since it all seemed hard work being dragged around with a crowd. Plenty of guide books/audio guides which were more convenient. Out & about Romans were very friendly however keep your wits about you at all times. Que pushers, ticket touts etc abound. We had a near miss experience with a friendly Roman trying to con us. Rome proved a fantastic destination with an enormous range of things to see. Generally great value hotel for a short stay.

Petit déjeuner continental en buffet à volonté, très convenable. (café "expresso" à la demande) Personnel aimable et serviable à souhait. Séjour 100/100 satisfait. Établissement à conseiller pour sa qualité, sa situation.

“Great friendly hotel”

This is a great hotel for seeing the main attractions in Rome. It is not far from the metro and within walking distance of the Trevi fountain, Spanish Steps, shops and restaurants. The staff are friendly and speak excellent English, My room was comfortable and the continental-style breakfast satisfactory.

“Brilliant Hotel -Would definitely stay again!”

After reading several negative reviews, we were a bit worried when we booked Memphis but we had chosen it because of the great location. The negative reviews were totally wrong. Hotel Memphis was brilliant. As soon as we arrived, all staff members were friendly and helpful. Most reviews had said the opposite but we found the staff to be really friendly. The older lady and the young girl at reception were lovely and freely helped us with anything we needed. In the afternoon some men in suits, possibly managers, were also friendly and polite. They ordered our taxis and helped with tourist inormation. The room was small but very clean and had everything needed. It was modern and comfortable with a great bathroom. The TV was excellent. You could select any program and convert it into English.(a real bonus in Europe) Some reviews complained about noise but we found it to be very quiet on the first floor. We slept very well. Breakfast was fantastic - a great range of cereals, fruits, pastries, juices and hot food. The cappuccino was the best that we had in Europe. The waiter, Fabriccio, was very helpful and extremely polite. He was very efficient and kind. The location was perfect. We could walk to most attractions and good shopping was in the next street, even a supermarket (SPAR shop). We would definitely stay there again and would recommend it to anyone. Ignore the negative reviews and enjoy a great hotel!

“Perfect location and hotel, would stay again”

This hotel is perfectly central for any Rome visitor, it is 4 min walk to the Trevi fountain, 45 min walk to the Vatican and 20 minutes to ancient Rome! The room is small but that is to be expected for a Roman hotel but they have been renovated to a high standard. Staff are friendly and breakfast is fruit, youghurt, cereal, pastries and breads, just what is necessary!

“Would definitely go back to the hotel.”

In particular the position of the hotel was excellent in relation to the Trvis Fountain, the Spanish Steps as well as other ares of interest (the Pantheon is only 20 minutes and the Piazza Navona a further 5 minutes on). Also there is a Metro station 5 mins from the hotel and the Vatican station is only 10 minutes from there.

I was extremely happy at the Memphis, extremely clean and tidy and the staff were extremely helpful. The hotel is in a brilliant location, a few minutes walk from Trevi Fountain, the spanish steps and the Pantheon.

“Newly renovated hotel in great location”

This is a newly renovated hotel in an excellent location and walking distance to a number of major attractions - Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps, Via Veneto and more. The rooms are comfortable with hardwood floors and nice bathrooms. The breakfast was decent with fruit, pastries, juice and coffee. There are also several little grocery stores nearby where you can stock up on bottle water, soda and other snacks. A few areas of improvement would be the hotel staff, they seemed a little inexperienced but overall nice. Also be sure to pack your own iron as the hotel does not provide but will charge a fee to press your clothes for you.
