“Far better than expected”
We were delighted with our choice of hotel. It had character and we greatly enjoyed breakfasting over looking the Tiber with St Peter's in the distance. We were lucky enough to get one of the two outdoor balcony tables six out of our seven days and it with beautiful weather it was just perfect. the staff were very helpful and the hotel well located for getting around.
“Can't wait to return!!!”
Hotel was great and perfect location...close to the Tram into town. Staff was very helpful and always pleasant:) We had a great room with a terrace which we loved...the traffic can be a bit noisy but we were fine with it. Can't say enough wonderful things about our visit to Rome...wish we were still there!!!
“would stay here again”
a very nice clean hotel not right in the centre but very easy to get to with romes excellent public transport, 4 euros gave you a whole days travel on metro tram or buses. the rooms were a nice size and very clean. there was a good choice for breakfast accommadating tourists from everywhere i would recomend this hotel and hope to return one day.
“Great hotel but be prepared to travel”
I loved this hotel. I was part of a group of 3 students there for a summer break (June 08). The season hadn't properly started so was nice and quiet. The hotel isn't central so you will need to either enjoy long walks (which are possible) or take public transport or taxis to the main attractions if that is your intention of the holiday. The rooms was spacious for the three of us and they accomodated three separate beds in one room on speical request. The room was well kitted out with a TV, CD player, fridge, safe all ou might expect. The fridge was replenished daily with a can of coca cola, fanta, sitll and fizzy water, a juice drink and snacks consisting of a small pack of pringles and a cereal bar type thing. Fesh towells were provided everyday. Breakfast was very nice on the balcony on the 5th floor, but don't worry there is a lift. There is an internet access point on the 3rd floor which is free to use after presenting your passport to hotel reception. The one down side to my holiday is that the hotel would not entertain the exchange of traveller's cheques at reception. this is the first time in Europe i experienced this problem. They advised using a bank which was round the corner but openin hours seems a bit hit and miss. I wouldn't hesitate to recomend the hotel to any of my friends. Overall a very good hotel and I wouldn't hesitate in going back.
“will visit again”
professional, friendly and very helpful staff, hotel located in good neighborhood , two short blocks from tram, ten minutes to city center, and ten minutes approx. to vatican. very good breakfast. very nice and clean rooms. my family loved the stay here. Would definetely recommend this hotel.
“Impressive”
Impressive hotel at a great price. Very clean and seems recently renovated. Nice location, it's within walking distance to Piazza del Popolo and Spanish steps. Free wireless internet and every day they fill up your fridge with drinks and water at no charge. The breakfast buffet is served on the terrace where you get a great view of the city.
“wonderful place to stay in Rome”
The Hotel Astrid is a wonderful place to stay on your Roman Holiday. The hotel is adorable; the rooms are extremely clean and comfortable and the staff went out of their way to be friendly, courteous and above all helpful. Though you do have to take a tram into the city center it is a hassle free five minute ride and the stop is just a block away. We will certainly be staying here again when we return to the city.
“a la porte de rome”
a 2 station de tram on arrive direct dans le centre
“Great place to stay”
The staff were very helpful and answered all our questions. Breakfast was very good, there was a good choice of cold foods from the buffet with some excellent cake. The rooms were a little small but this was not a problem. They were serviced to a high standard and a nice touch was the free mini-bar with a good selection of soft drinks. The hotel is a little remote from all the major attractions but there is an excellent public transport system which is efficient and cheap to use. You will have to go out to eat but there are 3 restaurants nearby - all serve excellent and reasonably priced food plus fantastic wine at a fraction of UK prices...even after allowing for the (currently) poor exchange rate with the Euro.
“Nice, quiet european hotel”
Great facilities with friendly staff. Husband was upset because he wanted to run A/C & called twice & was told it would come on & just give it a few minutes. Third time he called he was told wasn't working & wouldn't be repaired for a week. Weather was not bad & room was fine when window was open but did have to prop door open to get good breeze circulating, once room cooled down it was fine as long as window stayed open. "Out of the way" location but still pretty easy to get to all the major sites with tram just a block or two away and then use the Metro (subway). Generally staff was very good, limited minibar but was restocked daily and was free. Be aware you are out of the "city center" and so if you want to see the major sites you will have to use the city transport which is easy and pretty reasonably priced.
