“Loved our stay!”
Perfect location. Outstanding breakfast! Loved our stay! Would stay here again!
“Average”
Reception staff variable. One with no english and Grumpy, another good english and helpful. depends on time of day- don't arrive too late! Rooms clean -especially bathrooms, but keep away from room 22 which seems to have been "added on" and has no windows and little space- not convinced this is legal? Reception changed for a very nice room on request next day. Tiled corridor floors and marble stair treads can make it noisy at night. Part of a residential block - lower floors still seem to be occupied, some other "hotels" on lower floors- hotel is on floor 4 and lift is ancient -in middle of stair well and has sign saying 250kg max! we managed 4 people with trepidation. breakfast fine ( continental, served)- though there were queues at times for tables. Good centre for exploring rome - only 2 streets from termini.
“No Complaints”
No Complaints an it was within mu budget, Hotel is located near the bus/train station terminal and other tourist sightseeing locations. Good restaurants nearby,
“Great base from which to see the city.”
The Hotel California is very well placed for the Roma Termini and the City. The staff were friendly and efficient and we were shown to our room within minutes of our arrival. We were informed that the lift was under refurbishment at the time and our bags were taken to our room which was on the fourth floor - it was quite a trek! The room was basic but comfortable offering good views of the surrounding area and a real feel of being in the city. Breakfast was an informal continental buffet provided in pleasant surroundings with plenty of choice and enough to satisfy our appetites - again the staff were friendly and helpful. The set up is quite strange as the building is shared with a number of other hotels and guest houses. The communal stairwell could have been cleaner however this could be attributed to the lift refurbishment. Overall the hotel was very pleasant and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay - it certainly met our needs for a shortcity break.
“Can't wait to go back”
1. Overbooked. Offered for the first night hotel not to far.It was a dirty stairhouse, the rooms under quality. We don't accepted, therefore they offered small rooms, without any windows and ventillation. Young people were very noisy till 6.00 am. From the second night we had the reservated rooms, bad rate with the price. Very noisy corridors.
“Very Disappointing”
The best feature of this hotel is its location. After having stayed in some great 3 star hotels & B&Bs all over southern & central Italy with Expedia, this hotel was by far the most disappointing. The owner was arrogant and rude, not helpful and begrudged us a city map!! The room allocated was on the 4th floor and after reading a note taped to reception about the lift being refurbished we immediately asked if the lift was working...not lazy but had heavy cases after 6 weeks holiday in Italy. Assured no problem, we rode the lift to 4th floor. Room allocated was old and run down. Bathroom door had lock hanging off, television not working, electricals in room dodgy....bed was an old foam mattress on a stretcher base. We were eventually moved across the hall to a smaller but much nicer room, more acceptable. Why was the nicer room not allocated the first time??? The hotel was not busy,The lift never worked again. After 2 nights stay we had to drag our luggage down 4 levels with 4 sets of steps per level at 4.15am to transfer to the airport. No assistance provided, the clomping of heavy cases would have been a disturbance to other guests without doubt.Would not recommend to anyone.
