“Iceland Sept 2010 Trip”
Went to Iceland 18-24 Sept to see the Northern Lights, geyers, water falls, tectonic plates. Saw the geyers, hot springs, huge falls, and tectonic plates. But, we did not see the Northern Lights and that was the main reason we traveled. Booked three separate excursions on different nights to see the Lights. Two of the trips were cancelled due to "poor weather conditions". Not sure if I believed this since we talked with another traveler who had gone with Reykjavik Excursions and seen the lights the night before. Our R.E. guide told us we couldn't go the night before because of bad weather. Someone lied to us. This was the only bad part of our trip. Everything else was GREAT!
“Weekend break in Reykjavik”
Great location. Very close to the main street, bars, restaurants etc. Staff always tried to help. Rooms very cozy and warm (only complaint was they had the dreaded 2 single beds stuck together for the double bed) Would recommend!
“Radisson 1919 Reykjavik”
Hotel bien entretenu, personnel discret mais disponible et efficace; Emplacement idéal en centre ville, proche du port. Prix du petit déjeûner un peu élevé.
“Enjoyed our stay”
We stayed on Friday and Saturday night, and Saturday was Cultural Night. Lots of properties have a problem with noise on Friday and Saturday nights, but our room faced an interior courtyard and was very quiet. The location is excellent, very convenient.
“Très bien placé plein centre à proximité port ; office de tourisme et rue commerces”
Hotel à conseiller, restauration très cher comme dans toute l'Islande , le restaurant de l hotel est de très bonne qualité dans le niveau de prix Islandais , profiter des poissons proposés. L' Hotel n'a pas de parking mais il en existe au pied de l hotel sans soucis. Dans le port 100mètres vous touverez le resto SEABARON (facade bleu) déguster la soupe de poisson dans une baraque de pecheur super .
“Radisson SAS 1919”
The staff at the hotel were so helpful! The location was quite convenient to all of the sites in Reykjavik, and we loved the room (although the beds were a little too firm). The only thing missing was an alarm clock.
“Very Impressed”
The hotel is located in the centre of the town close to the walking street. It is also conviniently serviced by all the tour operators. most of the attractions, including the waterfront is withing the walking distance. Also there are several good restuarants and fast food joints as well as a 24 hour grocery store within minutes from the hotel.
“Fab hotel, great location, great country!”
The hotel is in a great location in the old town, near to the main shopping street with great bars and restaurants nearby. Perhaps a little noisy at weekends, but everyone should know that Icelandics do like to enjoy themselves at weekends. Staff at the hotel were very helpful and we received a room upgrade upon arrival. Will stay at the hotel again for sure as we plan to visit Iceland again. Didn't get the opportunity to eat at Salt but the bar was great for cocktails, especially at happy hour. Great stay and would recommend.
“Perfect Location”
The hotel is close to restaurants and shopping, and right across the street from the famous hot dog "pylsur" stand Bæjarins beztu. We had a rental car and were pleasantly surprised to find a public parking lot right across the street from the hotel. Many other hotels in central Reykjavik had little or no parking near them. The room was clean and comfortable with a spacious, modern bathroom. Our only complaint was the expensive continental breakfast - not worth the price.
“Wonderful service”
Having stayed in Reykjavik before I was expecting good service from the hotel reception staff and was not disappointed here.Iceland has very well-organised tourism services with door to door transport arranged by your hotel. The Radisson 1919 staff made several arrangements for us at various times of day and night, and accommodated last minute changes, with charm and efficiency. The hotel's bar has a very small but tasty menu; the in-house restaurant Salt lacks atmosphere but is friendly and you can see your meal being prepared. Its menu is excellent, with seasonal variations.Even though Reykjavik is tiny and no-where is very far away, this hotel is particularly well placed for sight seeing, shooping and up-market resturants. My only complaint would be the lack of storage space in the bedroom, clearly geared more towards the business traveller than the holiday maker.A particularly thoughtful touch was the fact that a small breakfast of coffee, croissants and fruit was provided for us in the lobby at 5 am on the morning of our departure even though breakfast was not included in our booking.
