“Beautiful hotel, beautiful city”
We stayed in Reykjavik for four nights and had a delightful stay at the Centrum. If I were to try hard to find fault: I was irked by having to pay £10 per day for wifi access. The access was smooth and problem-free, however. We had paid for a deluxe room and loved the space we had, particularly since we seemed to have a 20 foot turret in one corner. Just a shower but a very efficient one and there’s endless hot water there, of course. The building itself is quite starkly beautiful and incredibly central. We had a grand top floor view over Austurvöllur, with the Settlement Exhibition right underneath us. We stayed Sunday to Thursday, so I don’t know whether there would be much disturbance from the all night partying in that quieter part of town. As it was, we slept with our window ajar. We bought odds and ends from a couple of local supermarkets and nobody seemed to mind that we filled the minibar with several varieties of skyr every day. We had breakfast in the hotel one morning before a trip out of town and that was expensive but there was ample choice from the buffet. We didn’t eat there in the evening but there were several fine restaurants nearby. Everything in Reykjavik is expensive, apart from hot running water and their geothermal power, but we had anticipated that. We seldom used cash since the Icelanders seem to prefer plastic for even the smallest transactions and don’t expect tips. We’ve traveled a lot over the years and seldom enjoyed a short trip so much.
“Terrific hotel”
Lovely hotel.
“Although Iceland is expensive it's a must place to visit”
The Centrum Hotel is situated in a fantastic location from the main strip, although not right in the middle of it, it's only about five to ten minutes walk. Great service, a really nice bar and generally a nice relaxing atmosphere...
“Very good hotel in central location”
Hotel very good and staff most helpful. Easy walking into town. Only slight downside was the size of the rooms, they were adequate but a little on the small side.
“Wonderful find”
I stayed in this hotel for four days in early November and was impressed the minute I walked in the front door. The staff were very friendly and helpful, the room was extremely clean, very tastefully decorated, and very comfortable. The location can't be beat as the hotel is right in downtown Reykjavik, and although right downtown, it was very quiet. I would stay there again in a heartbeat. The only downsides were that breakfast wasn't included in the room rate as it is at other hotels in Reykjavik, and wireless internet access also wasn't free. The breakfast in the hotel was quite expensive, but I self-catered for breakfast, which worked out just fine.
“Great hotel, Great location!”
Arrived at 1am in the morning, and it was good to see the hotel receptionist still smiling! Great location within easy walking distance of everything. We didnt stay in the hotel to eat or drink, but the food did look good at breakfast. Hotel rooms are clean, tidy and comfortable. No bath in our room, but powerful large shower. All public areas were clean. All in all a great location and a great hotel, would highly recommend. Only marked down as a 4 for 'comfort of room' as the rooms aren't massive, but they do at least have plenty of storage space to put your belonging away.
“Great value stylish accomodation”
The Hotel Centrum Reykjavik was fantastic. We had a junior suite (we were upgraded for no reason)which was fabulous. The room was very clean and modern with stylish decor. The hotel is positioned within very close proximity to all the local attractions and the city's cool spots are a mere couple of minutes. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who appreciates good design. We did not eat in the restaurant so no comment on the food.
“Excellant hotel, and excellant location”
I really can't fault this hotel. Both the service and accommodation were excellent, and the location was second to none. All the best restaurants and cafe's are on the doorstep. The hotel has a bar and a restaurant both of which sell good quality food. The bar is a particularly nice place to unwind and relax after a busy day sight seeing and between 18:00 and 19:00 it's happy hour, which compensates for Iceland’s high drink prices. My partner and I intend to go back to Iceland one day and we will definitely be staying in the same hotel. Avoid the main stream hotels as these are 15 - 20 minutes outside of the centre and in quite unsightly areas.
“Sympa, propre, qualité, central”
Confort presque 5 mais avions un peu froid dans la chambre... pas de moyen de regler individuellement.
“great hotel, excellent value”
We thought this hotel was excellent value in what is an expensive country. The staff were so welcoming and helpful; providing information and booking any day trips we wanted. The location is very central but peaceful. The room was clean and of a high standard - I would certainly choose to stay here on my next trip.
