“Good choice”
Small room which is typical for Europe but good beds and hot shower. Be prepared that hot water smells like sulphur because they use geothermal water in Iceland. Very gracious and helpful front desk staff. Very reasonably priced for Iceland.
“Comfortable and Convenient”
If you're looking for a fun hotel with character this is not for you. On the other hand, if you want a clean, comfortable, efficient place to stay with a very good breakfast thrown in, the Baron is spot on. The location is a very easy stroll to lots of bars and restaurants as well as the waterfront. The bar is just a small counter in the corner of the breakfast room, not very appealing but fine for a drink on the way out or a nightcap.
“would go back”
The hotel was perfect for us. Breakfast buffet is beautiful--fresh smoked salmon, herring, and melons every morning. People were very friendly. My one and only complaint is that there is one computer in the lobby that is circa 1989. Besides that, we would definitely go back.
“PERFECT PLACE AS A BASE”
Our room was small and simple, but very clean and had everything we needed, plus, we paid extra for an ocean view. I loved the location of the hotel because it was only 2 or 3 short blocks from the main street with all the stores, but the hotel was on a quiet street away from the hustle and bustle. Breakfast was ample and we would definitely stay here again.
“Excellent Reykjavik Hotel - Great Value and Close to Everything”
Fosshotel Baron is an Icelandic gem. It's situated right off a local lake and walking distance to the heart of the Reykjavik shopping district. There is also ample parking if you're renting a car. Our room had an unbelievable view of the neaby lake and the mountains. The rooms are a moderate size but very clean and well maintained. There is a nice continental style breakfast every morning included in the price - which is a big bonus considering the expensive price of food in Iceland. The hotel staff was also extremely helpful in helping plan excursions and anything else we needed. One night a staff member went as far as finding a restaurant that had a vegetarian option for me (not easy to find) and booked the reservation! Fosshotel Baron definately went well beyond the call of duty. For the price, it is a great value - I will definately stay there again my next visit to Iceland!
“Great hotel for an affordable [winter] price”
I arrived far ahead of check-in time (8am vs. 4pm) and was still able to access my room and have breakfast at the hotel that morning. The hotel was very helpful and instrumental in booking my tours in town and for calling me taxis. Very helpful in general. The bed is very soft and hardly has any support, but for the price, it's good.
“Great Experience”
Hotel was clean, well located and had helpful staff. Made my first visit to Iceland a wonderful experience. Buffet breakfast was outstanding! Free wifi kept me in touch with the world.
“Nice hotel”
Good hotel for a weekend in Reykjavic. Room was clean, staff was friendly. The breakfast was simple and always fresh. Just a short walk off the main pedestrian street.
“great hotel”
love the hotel location - close to the main drag but far enough away from the madding crowd. we got a room facing the marina and had incredible view of the flaming sunset. breakfast was good, room was clean, price was great. no complaints.
“excellent value”
we would definitely stay here again. Not far from the centre (it is a small city) even when walking through lots of snow and ice as we did. The best value (and good quality) breakfast I have had. Room, if it does get cold, warms up quickly with very efficient heating. Not n exciting hotel to stay in, not cutting edge design. But I will stay there next time
