“Decent hotel but save your time and money and AVOID THE RESTAURANT! Worst and $$ I've ever had!!”
Hotel itself was fine. Room was clean and front desk staff were friendly. The hotel wasn't as family friendly as we had hoped but for the one night we stayed it was fine. Now the only serious complaint my husband I feel the need to now post on many travel review sites is regarding the restaurant inside the hotel. This was a somewhat remote hotel which meant that later evening arrivals left you with only the Bears Paw restaurant in the hotel to eat at. We are not picky eaters, but this was THE most disgusting horrid food I have ever experienced. Nothing was fresh. Everything was from a jar, can, prepackaged, frozen crap. Everything looked, felt and tasted like microwaved TV dinners and to top it off it was ASTRONOMICALLY expensive!! My pasta with a jarred premade cream sauce with frozen scallops and a few chewy baby shrimps cost way too much!! The scallops were a weirdly perfect marble shape and almost seemed genetically chemically created. Aweful. My husbands ribs were prepackaged from a Safeway/grocery store that you would just reheat. Tough, chewy, dry and inedible. Our kids meals were just as bad. Over cooked bow tie pasta with super sweet tomato sauce from a can no veggies or side. Tasted like microwaved spaghettios or something. The only thing edible in our whole overpriced meal (which was more than the cost of our room!!) was the wine they served us in beer glasses which had lipstick stains all over it.
“Peaceful and relaxing”
We stayed in one of the chalets, separate from the main hotel. Room was very comfortable and private. Restaurant featured lovely food but was a little expensive. Nice pool and hot tub.
“A bit out of the way”
Stayed here in July 2010 in a cabin. A nice location, about a 5 minute drive from Revelstoke into the woords, into a remote area. There is a restaurant on-site but we found the prices too expensive and not a very good value. We didn't see anyone eating in there, probably for the same reason we decided not to. They should definitely do something about the restaurant--convert it from a pricey venue to a more basic, family-oriented place--they would make a killing because they are the only option for miles around. Very nice indoor pool and hot tub. The cabins are fairly basic, and the one we stayed in did not have a fridge, which was an inconvience. A small excercise facility is available. Some of the cabins have a hot tub on their deck, which looked like a fabulous option, although few people seemed to be using them. Every cabin has a nice deck with chairs to relax on. I would recommend this place if you are staying in the Revelstoke area, are not in a rush, and don't want to stay in a chain hotel/motel along the highway.
“Not Impressed”
The view and description of the hotel on their website had us looking forward to our arrival as it appeared the view would be spectacluar and the hotel a little mountain jewel. The route to the hotel from the highway started to raise some questions in our minds because as we came closer to the hotel local landfill and waste facilities were noticeable as well as as high voltage power line that travelled right through the hotel property. Also noticeable was the distance one would have to travel from the hotel in order to utilize any of the services availble in the town. The front desk services was excellent. The clerk was knowledgable and filled us in with the details required by guests such as the locationof the amenities with in the hotel. Upon entering our room we found the room to be very basic but neat and tidy. The mountain view was stupendous, except for the power line. Going to the restaraunt for our meal was a huge disappoinment. The menu was limited, to the extreme, the portions very small, to the extreme, and the prices outrageous, to the extreme, but when you stay at a hotel that is a distance away from anything else I guess they can charge you whatever they feel like charging you, where else are you going to go? We were very thankful that we had some granola bars and fruit left over in our travel cooler otherwise we would have been going to bed hungry. Although t he condition of the hotel and the service were good, we would not stay here again.
“Thus”
Not worth it
