“Great hotel as long as you get it at a great price”

We got off at the wrong Metro stop and walked with our luggage to get to the hotel, I was a bit sour upon arrival. The correct metro stop Pernety was literally 50 steps from the hotel front door. It was a great location for going to all the major tourist spots. We were not on the metro for longer than 10 minutes to get anywhere. Eiffel Tower, Notre-Dame, Montmartre, Moulin Rouge, the Opera, Pere LaChaise all were within minutes. My traveling partner loved the hotel room. It was modern. Nice bed....place to hang your coat and some clothes but we were definitely in the room shoved into the last available spot. There was a desk that lined the room under a 5 foot tall ceiling. I don't want to harp on this too much because we left the hotel at 8 am and came back at 11pm to sleep. Our second day the same except we came back mid day to change. This hotel suited our needs perfectly. Every morning we went to breakfast in the hotel. Continental-Muffins, croissants, coffee, meats, cheeses, yogurt and fruit. Very small breakfast room- but it never failed us. I brought with me a charger/converter however, I broke my camera in the UK and bought one there with a UK plug. When I needed a UK to Europe adapter the front desk did have a selection of converters available. The front desk staff was very nice and helpful. We checked in at 10:30pm without any problem at all. It is not your beautiful Paris Hotel in the center of it all. They have a car service to the airport-Use it!

“Great value for money”

55 Montparnasse lived up to all the previous reviews I had read. I am in complete agreement previous reviewers. This hotel is great value for the money. The staff is extremely friendly, will speak English or French as you wish. The cleaning staff does an excellent job. The hotel room may be small but we were not looking for luxary. The area is full of restaurants, shops and close to the main Montparnasse area. The metro is 1 minute from the hotel. I will definitely come again.

“a little gem”

Great location, basic room but definitely value for money. there's a superb bakery under the hotel (i woke up to the smell of freshly baked bread one morning) and a fantastic authentic Breton creperie just across the street!

“Paris Hotel”

A really great experience and wonderful staff. The location is just steps away from a metro station. The neighborhood is quant with some great brasseries/boulangeries/creperies ... you really get the whole Paris experience living here. It takes 20 mins max to get to Notre Dame or Eiffel Tower on metro from here. The staff spoke perfect English, were very helpful with directions. You can also ask the hotel for a private taxi number so you can call to get to the hotel (max 56 euros). The rooms were a bit smaller than usual but very clean and lighted up.

Area recommendations

Definitely go around the Montparnasse area. The food is cheaper and more authentic. The creperie across the street is just amazing (they also cook other types of dishes apart from crepes). Au metro is a brasserie nearby which also has great dishes and drinks. The boulangerie next to the hotel has a friendly atmosphere and great baked goods (cuts down the cost of breakfast and I would recommend just buying your breakfast here than in the hotel). There is a pharmacie and grocery store nearby. Other restaurants and stores are a 5 to 10 min walk. We got some great late night gyros there.

“Business hotel at affordable price”

The hotel is not too far from Montparnasse hub which is a good thing. It is about 10 minutes walk. Pernety subway station is right across. The room is small but the bathroom was bigger than I have seen in some other hotels. Room was also clean. Bed quite comfortable. Restaurants are nearby so finding a place to eat is not difficult. The heating system had a mind of its own (no thermostat in my room). It got very hot so I had to open the window slightly. Then I discovered how noisy it can be. Forget sleeping late.

“Clean and Cozy”

Would return to the cozy attic room. This hotel is clean, on the Metro and safe. It was difficult to find for a first-timer to Paris -best to get on the metro somehow and get off at Pernety station (exit onto Pernety street) - then turn right and it.s the first street on your left. The patisserie on the corner is amazing!!!
