“Very Satisfied”
My wife and I stayed at the Hotel Duret from July 31 - August 8. We were extremely happy with the hotel and its location. We stayed on the second floor (room 201) - actually the third level as the ground floor isn't considered floor one. From what I can tell, this is one of the few floors that had a small balcony. We didn't have any problem with noise as one reviewer stated. If I stood at our door, I was able to hear people enter their rooms, but nothing after that. The drinking water in Paris is fine - no need to buy bottled water. Our room had a large bathroom, comfortable queen sized bed, walk in closet with a safe (where you can keep your passport) and small fridge. The hotel is a 5 min walk to the Argentine Metro station. I would advise using the Metro to get around as it will save you time. When you get to your destinations, you will be doing lots of walking. A word of warning though, if you plan on traveling during August, several of the shops around the hotel were closed. The butcher shop, bakery, chocolatier shop, and some of the other shops were closed. There is a small grocery store just down the road (just past the Thai restaurant). I would advise going there to buy anything you need. There is a wine shop down the road or you can buy wine at the grocery (cheap to expensive). I would pick up a bottle for your picnic along the Seine. If you find a vintage you like, good luck trying to find the same bottle! Paris is amazing. I plan on going back!
“Pleasant little hotel with local neighborhood appeal”
The Duret is a very small hotel with limited services, but rooms are comfortable, larger than expected for Paris, and clean. A real draw for us was the neighborhood appeal with patisserie, fruit market, grocery store, brasserie, bank all within the block. A main metro station is only one block away, which can connect you anywhere in the city. If you prefer being walking distance from major stores and attractions, this would not be the hotel for you. Also, desk staff were helpful, but no concierge service if you needed more assistance. I would return there, but my wife would prefer to be more centrally located for the next visit to Paris.
“Nice Hotel & Good location”
Nice Hotel short walk to Arc de Triomphe & Champs Elsyee (2-3 blocks) Great Bakery on corner & an okay Bistro. Enjoyed our stay, staff was very nice. Enjoyed a night cap at small lobby bar alone with my Wife at 3 AM after a long night on the town. Room was fine a little small by American standards, but clean. I would recommend this hotel, its small & quiet, with a nice staff.
“Great Hotel in Paris”
Hotel Duret was a great choice. It was conveniently located close to a Metro station or a small walk to the Arc De Triumphe. There were plenty of small cafes nearby. We were even able to find an automatic laundry just around the corner. I just couldn't have been happier with the location. The staff was very friendly and the Hotel was very clean and modern. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone traveling to Paris!
“Hotel Duret - A simple, classic and comfortable hotel”
We spent a week here. The hotel was stylish, the rooms well appointed and the beds very comfortable. The hotel is in a quiet residential area that makes you feel like a Paresian. There are nice restaurants, a wonderful patisserie and of course nice cafes nearby. We passed the boucherie every day; there were people waiting in line for their meats and saucisson. We arrived early on a Sunday and drank coffee in the lobby as we waited for them to prepare our rooms. They had our rooms ready by ten, a luxury, as we could shower and nap before heading into town. The staff was friendly and helpful. Overall it was a nice hotel to stay at; slightly off the beaten path but a very nice place to rest, relax and recharge for the next day.
“Well kept secret”
This hotel was small, but very quiet, intimate, and well maintained. We did not feel like we were jammed in with thousands of tourists in a busy area. Many residences surrounded the hotel, adding to a feeling of authenticity. The location could not have been better; for example, within a very short distance was a grocery store, outdoor market, pharmacy, and other necessary and interesting businesses and stores. Restaurants, bakeries, and other eating areas also were very close. Staff was informative and accurate I would definitely return to this hotel.
“Perfect boutique hotel”
Hotel Duret is a perfect example of boutique hotel, small yet personalized care. Christine, in the front desk was very accomodating and helpful. We had the standard room with balcony and we love it we didn't feel cramped. It's only a block away from Arc de Triomphe and lots of nice cafe and restaurants close by. Every morning we had fresh baguette from a brassiere only 15 steps away:-) Hotel is also accessible to metro and RER train. We would definitely go back on our 10th year anniversary.
“Ok Hotel, but disappointing based on review and recommendations”
Positives: The staff was extremely pleasant and helpful and spoke english. If the staff were the only thing we were considering, would recommend the hotel. Bakery down the street was awesome. Market right down the street a good thing. Did find one good restaurant down the street. . Opportunities: Room: Hotel walls were thin and provided little privacy. Could absolutely hear conversations clearly from the room next door. Carpet was dirty in the halls and in room. Very sparsly decorated. No clock in the room at all. Only consider the hotel if looking to upgrade to largest room. This was barely acceptable for what we paid and could tell the base room was a major challenge from a size perspective. Would have been a 2 to 3 star hotel in the US. Location: After spending a week in Paris, definitely are better locations if you like to walk to attractions. If I had to do it all over again, would have likely found a hotel somewhere generally between the Arc and the Louve. The only attaraction easily walkable was the Arc. If you do not mind taking the metro or cabs to 90% of the attractions, then ignore this comment. The location was safe with no issues. Summary: We have taken Insider Select recommendations in the past with our Italy vacation and been extremely happy with no disappointments. We were absolutely disappointed by this recommendation. Did not ruin our vacation at all but did have nights I could not sleep due to the thin walls. I beleive there are better choices for the $'s.
“Will return ASAP!”
Convenient to sites, transportation, food market, and cafes! All questions happily answered by staff. Excellent breakfast, and coffee for reasonable price! Interent available. Beds are very comfortable. Air France courtesy buses bring you to CDG, and back, all day, just 3 blocks away! "I'll be back!"
“Excellent Boutique Hotel. Small but very comfortable”
Just off the Avenue de Grand Armee, which is the extension of the Champs on the other side of the Place d' Etoile. Great consierge service. Made reservations for Rest. Museums, car service to Versaille.
