“Great Hotel for the Price!”

Title says it, very good for the price. Very clean and has all the essentials. No parking, but there is a garage the next block over with $7 overnight parking. You can take the money saved on this Hotel and use it for drinks/dining/fun activities etc.

“Very Satisfied, Especially for the Price”

Upon arrival, we were given a free upgrade to a Junior Suite on the 2nd floor. The hotel itself can best be described as quaint. It is older but that was not a surprise based on what we read in other reviews. The room itself was what we expected. It is not a high-end hotel where everything is new but made-to-look-old. The hotel is old and shows signs of its age. That being said, it was well kept and there wasn't much for us to complain about. There were no noise issues. This was a combination of where our room was located and the fact that Monterey was dead a week before Christmas. I could see how a street-facing room during the summer may be loud. As for location, it doesn't get much better. We opted to valet our car and we walked as much as possible. The construction appears to be ongoing. We didn't hear any sound of construction while we were there but things are obviously a work in progress. The breakfast is about what we expected. Coffee, bagels, muffins, and juice. It was plenty for us. If we wanted eggs and pancakes, we would go to an actual restaurant. We were very satisfied. Lastly, the people that worked there were all very polite and helpful. The rate we got through expedia was hard to beat, even by a dumpy chain hotel. The fact that we were in a great location downtown and got a free upgrade made the deal unbeatable. The hotel is not perfect but I don't expect it to be for the rate we got. We wouldn't have gotten a better room for less anywhere in Monterey.

“Best Hotel Experience So Far!”

Stayed in 2 expedia selections. One in SOMA a suburb of San Fransisco. It was a newly renovated Victorian made modern and was awesome. Big room 4th floor with city views for around one hundred. The second was in a historic hotel in Monterey and it was kept authentic. Our room was big clean and the service was friendly, all for around one hundred.

“Absolutely Monterey's best for the Buck!”

This hotel made me feel like I had gone back in time but with the conveniences of the present. Beautifully preserved. Upon entering, the desk clerk immediately upgraded me from a queen room to a king room at no charge. It was on the third floor but that was no problem as the staff is readily available to assist you. I had a huge window overlooking the bay that was truly breathtaking. The furniture in the room was authentic and very well preserved. The bed was very comfortable and everything was very clean. You just have to experienced this hotel when visiting Monterey. You are very close to the wharf and many coffee shops and eateries. Their breakfast was in a quaint little dining room with fine china and an attendant available at all times. I had only booked 2 of my 4 night stay with them and I didn't want to leave! This hotel is a must when visiting Monterey!!

“great hotel great location”

Great urban hotel-step out and feels like NYC-you're among shops (coffee place right next door) and restaurants in a very pleasant downtown. it's a very short and pleasant walk to fisherman's wharf, municipal pier, the beach, the plaza. there's a trail you can follow to walk further--to cannery row, to lover's point, to pacific grove and its pleasant downtown shopping/eating area. you don't have to have a car to stay here and enjoy monterey. one thing: there is no hotel parking; if you do have a car, there are pay lots ($7 each time you go in or $17/day) close by. we never moved our car once we parked.

“Love the Monterey Hotel”

We loved the Monterey Hotel. The staff were all extremely courteous. We were given an upgrade to a Suite , which was wonderful. The hotel does not have an elevator, but our bags were carried upstairs for us. The location of the hotel is wonderful. We were able to walk to entertainment, restaurants, etc. Our rental car stayed parked for our entire visit to Monterey. I would highly recommend the Monterey Hotel to anyone.
