    Rhode Island Hotel Guide

Rhode Island is the smallest state in land area, but what it lacks in size it makes up for in fun, adventure, and enjoyment for people taking advantage of cheap hotel deals in Rhode Island. The state was the first American colony to declare independence from the British in 1776. With the nickname "The Ocean State," Rhode Island offers some of the top beachside attractions on the northeast Atlantic coast.

Narragansett Bay is one of the state's best draws for tourists and is where many travellers find a cheap Rhode Island hotel deal. Within the Narragansett Bay, there are more than 30 islands for tourists to explore. The state also has many natural forests, which offer an opportunity for guests at hotels in Rhode Island to explore during their vacation.

Rhode Island is deeply involved in the history of the United States, especially the American Revolution, Industrial Revolution, and Civil War. Tourists staying at Rhode Island hotels can explore this history at landmarks such as the Eleazer Arnold House, built in 1691 in Providence or the First Baptist Meetinghouse, built in 1775.

Many Rhode Island hotel packages offer sightseeing tours through the historical areas of cities such as Providence, which is Rhode Island's capital, most populous city, and one of the oldest cities in the U.S. Coffee lovers can rejoice in Providence, as it has the highest concentration of coffeehouses in the country.

Visitors enjoying the affordable Rhode Island hotel deals featured on Expedia can take part in local festivals throughout the state, such as the WaterFire, an environmental art installation in Providence; the Newport Blues & BBQ Festival; or Newport Folk Festival in Newport. Be sure to book reservations in advance of these events, as the rooms with the lowest rates fill up quickly.

Other special events and places that travellers to Rhode Island have fun seeing include the Seaside Village Fair in Narragansett, the One Act Play Festival in Cranston, and the Great Chowder Cook Off, which showcases one of New England's traditional and favourite dishes. One of the best and most comfortable hotels I have stayed at. The location is the best for getting around Providence. Many restaurants within walking distance and easy access to highways to drive wherever you want to go. Definitely this will be our location when in Providence.

"Old hotel in Newport renovated beautifully."
As the hotel was built in 1926 some of the rooms like ours) was small but beautifully decorated. You're only going to sleep and wash there so that is no big deal to us. The desk clerks were gracious and ready to assist with any questions or services you might require. The valet staff practically tripped over themselves to accommodate you and retrieve your car when needed. The bartender was very friendly and service was impeccable and fast. We did not try the restaurant in the hotel but the menu looked delicious and we promised ourselves to dine there next time. This is the place to stay if you're visiting Newport!

    "Awesome place to stay"
We came in late (1130pm) and it had been pouring for a good 4 hours. The attendant got us on our way in a quick and urgent fashion and even gave us brochures for Newport. The room was very clean and very comfortable. We had a good breakfast in the morning before heading out to explore.

"Good place if all you want to do is sleep"
I knew that this was not going to be a class A place as I made my reservations really late and there was not a lot available. Having said that, I didn't expect a really great place. I was however surprised to find that we were in a small cabin instead of a typical "hotel" - I was not made aware of that during my conversation with the booking agent. But we were only there primarily to sleep, and it was fine for that.

"Pleasantly surprised, lots of potential ..."
Stayed here two nights. Room was larger than expected, had King bed, 2 nightstands, small dining table with 2 wing chairs, large desk with chair, dresser, TV, luggage rack, and still plenty of open floor space! Room was clean; linens were clean/fresh and we had fresh towels for 2nd day.We like it cooler to sleep, so we only turned on the heat briefly in the morning. Heat worked fine, unit has typical fan noise. Bathroom is very tiny with sink area/mirror in bedroom, but it was clean and we had plenty of hot water. Pool was open and looked nice but we didn't get a chance to try it. We didn't have any issues with gulls (probably due to the time of year - October), and there is a definite salty brine smell outside, but you ARE in a fishing port, and honestly didn't notice it after the first time. No in-room coffee, but there are coffee shops/food available across the street.

"Off season stay near University of Rhode Island"
We needed a hotel the night before we visited URI in November and the price was close to that of popular standard hotels in the vicinity of URI. The Village Inn Hotel in Narragansett, RI provided a wonderful place for our family of four to stay, complete with high speed internet access and a full sized couch along with all the standard amenities one would expect of a hotel.
