"My young adult son, myself and our little dog loved our stay here: To relax and dream, hammock rocked on the wraparound deck to soothing jungle sounds and meditate on the amazing wildlife while overlooking the Belize River was a heavenly respite, a true gem, cozy and quaint, in the jungle. A bevy of fans keep you cool. As Shanna and Kenny were under the weather, a driver named Ernesto picked us up at the airport, took us out for a delicious roadside lunch, grocery shopping and then to the Howler House. Shanna is excellent at communicating and arranging tours and a flight via Tropic Air to Placencia, our next stop. Ernesto drove us to our tours: We loved the Baboon Sanctuary and the cave tubing we ventured on was exciting and relaxing. Ernesto is friendly, helpful, professional and informative. The highlight of the Howler House is how secluded it is in the jungle. However, 3 other homes are being built on the property. The homes are spaced far enough apart to keep some privacy, but the seclusion will be lost. The other special feature of the Howler House: an incredible canoe ride. No crowd of homes alongside the River. Just wild jungle. We were greeted by a luminous green flying object come dusk on the deck: a glowing click beetle. So enchanting. We had never seen one before. And as we awoke to leave on our too short 2 night stay, 4 Howler Monkeys came onto the deck! One ate from our hands. Note: they love bananas not grapes.This was the best goodbye gift!"

"Gecko Bungalows blew us away! The property was a tropical paradise! Our room was extremely clean, and full of funky details that felt truly one of a kind. Scott and Michelle were very communicative and gave us lots of suggestions to maximize our experience in Ladyville. We will definitely be back!"

"My wife and I found James and Audrey’s place very reasonably priced and quite comfortable. It was spotless with very nice amenities. Quick and easy access to the airport and very peaceful. James is an excellent host and we would definitely do this again!"

"There are no words for this place. The food was amazing and the resort is beautiful. Everyone made the trip unforgettable. Melanie was so incredible even before i arrived. The mood mud massage was the most unique spa treatment ever. Do not pass that up. Every detail was perfect. We literally never wanted to leave.. they dont treat you like a guest. From the moment you arrive you feel amazing. I cannot say thank you enough! "

"We had the best time here. The hosts, Shanna and Kenny were great, super responsive and very helpful with planning things to do. Ernesto, one of the drivers was also fantastic and super helpful. The locals and neighbors around the house were very friendly. A grocery store was located near by and we were able to get most of what we needed to make our meals. Dee has a small bar next door and a small shop where you can get some basics. Dee was so friendly. A Howler Monkey troop came right onto the property one of the days and they were fun to watch. Another Howler Monkey troop spends most of its time across the street at Lloyd’s. Lloyd was happy to allow us on his property to check them out. The accommodations were great. There was a washer and dryer on site that worked well. We did not want to leave and we will definitely be back!"

"Main problem was ongoing construction of two new cottages only a few feet from the single existing cottage. Savy lodge owners care about client comfort and do not rent when renovating. Lighting along boardwalk poor and I tripped over a fresh 3 ft tall gravel mound ( construction) walking to our car in the dark. The manager did not show us the cottage upon our arrival as all other 13 places we stayed in Belize did."

"We arrived in the evening with another couple (we rented both Casitas) and there was only a key for one of them. Contacted the owner and they sent someone to bring the key to the other Casita about an hour later. The Casita had not been cleaned and we had to wait for it to be cleaned before we could bring our bags in. Needless to say after a long day of travel sitting in the covered porch area waiting for hours was frustrating. The Casita and grounds were as described. The Casita's themselves were inconsistently stocked with supplies. The drinking water is in 5 gallon jugs and you have to lift them up over your shoulders to put in the dispenser. There was no storage for luggage, the only cabinet is locked. We contacted the owner the day before we left stating that we heard a constant beeping underneath the Casitas the night before and was told they would have someone check on it. No one came and the beeping continued. We had to get up early (3:30) to travel to San Pedro to catch an early flight. The power went out before we got up so we were not able to take showers and had to pack up and leave in the dark. The issues we had are easily fixed. So, I hope this doesn't happen to anyone else. The Casitas themselves are very cute and exactly what we were looking for in a stay out of the crowded downtown area of San Pedro."
