(1,188 reviews) The resort is large and the staff are friendly, but overall not very helpful. It’s easy to feel lost, and there isn’t much guidance on where to go or who to ask for assistance. The restaurant experience was disappointing, though the bar service earlier in the day was good. One uncomfortable moment stood out: after we were told our bill would be charged to the room/we provided our room number and signed the receipt, we got up to leave and a staff member ran after us in front of the pool and restaurant as if we were trying to leave without paying, which was embarrassing. Our room was clean and well kept, but the expectation versus reality of the ocean-view room was the most disappointing, as the view was mostly blocked by trees. There was also no screen door on the patio, which made it difficult to enjoy the outdoor space. On departure day, we scheduled (via front desk) help with our bags and no one showed up. We also had questions about Fiji Airways check in, but couldn’t find anyone available to assist. After checking out, we continued to receive automated text reminders as if we were still guests, which added to the frustration. Overall, there were some positives, but the lack of support, communication, and unmet expectations made the experience feel average rather than relaxing. (1,006 reviews) Disappointing stay due to construction, room issues & poor service Unfortunately, our stay at Sofitel Fiji fell well short of expectations. There were significant construction works taking place directly next door, with no prior consultation, warning, or apology from the hotel. I strongly recommend requesting not to be placed near Block 1, as this is where the disruption was most severe. A previous Accor property in Australia offered perks as a compensation for the disruption. My sister and I were reunited on this trip (she’s live in UK) and had requested to be placed in rooms near each other. While her room (329) was very nice, this request was not honoured and I was placed in Room 202, directly beside the construction site. This room had a strong mouldy smell and damp flooring, which we initially thought was from cleaning. However, when we returned later that evening, moisture had spread to the furniture, bed, and even our suitcases. When I reported this, a maid came to mop the room and suggested it was due to our use of the air conditioning, despite the unit clearly displaying a fault warning and we had not been in all day. The following morning, I raised the issue again along with the construction noise and was moved only five doors down, still in Block 1 and still not near my sister. The new room (207) had its own issue: the main room lighting popped and sparked, which I reported as a potential electrical safety hazard.
