I really wanted to love this 250 year estate. I loved The history , the idea of the chocolate estate and supporting local . This could be a real gem and I am aware it gets great reviews that’s why I chose it I will say for a night or two may be ok I would not do longer than that . We had the cottage with a pool . It’s not the resorts fault this is a very eco type hotel in that there is no hot water in the shower for example and they say it’s an outdoor shower but it really was more a gas station shower that went wrong . The pool is like ice and I like cold water cause there is no sun and the outdoor pool by pool looked like post apocalypse with one or two beach chairs and weeds . The pictures online def have been enhanced . The mosquito net in our room is ripped and just worn out and at night the solar light would go on and off into our window every few minutes . The restaurant is not great and the drinks are expensive for what they are and the worst part was when they used Hersheys syrup in a cocoa drink instead of the cocoa from the plantation . There was actually not one recipe or drink that involved the plantation cocoa and I think They really missed the boat on that . Next door they are embracing that at the other resort . I think This could be a great place but there is a line of eco friendly and historic and just plain not well maintained. Hopefully it will improve it was just tired looking .

Beautiful resort well kept. Food was good. Beach was unusable due to sargassum and rough water. They have a free shuttle that takes you to another beach on the Caribbean side that is very nice. Entertainment was not great

We loved our stay at Ladera. The views of the sea and the Pitons were phenomenal, the layout and landscaping at Ladera well thought-out, and the staff the most friendly and cordial we've ever seen. Want to recognize Caroline, who was our first contact when we arrived and who bid us farewell on our last day, and always answered our questions quickly and cheerfully. Thanks to the entire staff for making our 1-year anniversary a very good experience.
