This is a hidden gem right near all the great restaurants in downtown Carmel, It was very comfortable and quiet with great sheets and towels on a comfy bed. For the price, it was a great choice and we are planning many returns. Staff was soooo helpful with wine tour and restaurant reservations.

Nice place overall.. the on-property restaurant was amazing. Only big qualms I had were that it was across the street from the beach, not a true beachfront. Doesn’t seem like that big of a deal until you get there and have to essentially to hike down the property from your room to get to the bottom of the property, cross a road and then hike down more to get to the beach. Not a fun time and especially difficult with kids. Our pull-out bed had a big nasty yellow stain on it- that’s always gross. Other than that, it was a pretty good stay.

![You never know what history you’ll find camping in Big Sur. This is an old limekiln...used from 1887 to 1890 to extract lime from limestone at very high heat. They then shipped it off to Monterey and San Francisco to build the city. Lime was the key ingredient used in cement. After 3 years however, they’d exhausted all their resources and abandoned them.
