With watersports, bars, restaurants and a long stretch of white sand, Mugoni Beach is a great place to come for fun and relaxation. The sandy stretch is bordered by a forest of pine trees. Its name comes from the Mugoni family who used to own land in the area. Roll out your towel on the sand or rent a sunbed and umbrella. Although the beach is very popular, especially during the height of the summer season, it is so spacious that you won’t feel on top of other visitors. Walk along the shoreline or take a shaded stroll among the pine trees. There are several options if you want to make the most of the emerald green water. Rent a pattino, a type of standup rowing boat and go for a swim or paddle. Sardinia is famed for its six-month long summer which means that the sea is usually warm enough for swimming from May through to October. Mugoni Beach sits in a bay and as such is sheltered from the wind and strong currents. This makes it a good place for families with young children who want to play in the water. However, when the wind does blow, the conditions are perfect for surfers. When that happens, ride the waves on a windsurfing or kitesurfing board. Don’t worry if you are a novice, because lessons are available at the beach If you haven’t brought a picnic with you, enjoy some refreshments in the bars and restaurants. Mugoni Beach is situated in Porto Conte, an easy 10-mile (16-kilometer) drive from the charming resort town of Alghero. Among the facilities are a large metered car park, restrooms and showers. The beach is also wheelchair accessible. Consider staying overnight in the beach’s campsite or in the nearby hotel. (367 reviews) We were here for the second week of a two week Italian vacation. Resort was breathtaking. Well maintained and served our needs as we had hoped. Morning breakfast buffet is included and did not disappoint. Everything from smoothies plenty of fruit dairy and breads. Omelette station was very good. My only disappointment was the very overpriced dinner buffet. We stayed in one night and for $70 a person not including drinks the value received for the fee was poor at best. I would suggest anyone staying here to walk the 1 mile to the marina and pick one of the two excellent restaurants. We ate at Delia three times and for $60 we got a three course meal with desert and two drinks for $60\. Much better value. Other than that this resort is outstanding. Air conditioning in the room did not work. Staff seemed functional but not particularly welcoming. Perhaps they felt it was the end of the season. Maybe they should fully function and then close rather than stay half open.
