# Luray Caverns

![A world of subterranean wonders, a milestone in geological discoveries, Luray caverns, is a wonderful weekend getaway for those who are living near DC or Virginia. It is around 2 hours (or more) drive from washington DC.
This is a picture of the "Dream Lake", a spring of water which has a mirror-like appearance. Stalactites are reflected in the water making them appear to be stalagmites. This gives an illusion that the lake is deeper. The lake is connected to a spring that continues deeper into the caverns.
All in all, it was my first time exploring caverns. It was a fun filled day, learning the stories of the cavern.

Tips: 
1) It is very crowded on weekends and holidays. If you want to enjoy peaceful, slow paced, less crowded tour of the caverns, go on weekdays.
2) If you visit the caverns, look for these things-
Saracen's tent - scarves and shawls of translucent calcite, falling in graceful folds, fringed with a thousand patterns, and so thin that a candle light can reveal the structure within!
The fried eggs formation - yes, it looks like fried eggs ;)
The Great Stalacpipe Organ - An actual organ which plays music- sounds of Stalactites! DO NOT miss this one!

Étant donné que notre camion F-150 ne pouvait pas être stationné dans le stationnement de l'hôtel, le personnel s'est chargé de nous laisser une place gratuitement devant l'hôtel. Nous avons grandement apprécié ce service. Mention au valet de l'hôtel (Nous n'avons pas son nom) pour son excellent service!

Great rooms. Wonderful location. Very professionnal and pleasant staff. The rooms on the third floor are out-of-this-world. The whole area is magic! You can walk, take a taxi boat. It's beautiful and safe... One bad note: Beware of the $50/night valet.

![The beautiful tiger at the Luray Rescue Zoo. This zoo holds animals that are unable to be cared for any more or should never have become House pets to begin with. The man that owns the place was born and raised in an animal loving family and his respect and love for the animals show through his interactions and knowledge.
