And you can get up close and personal with them, including Tut's mask. I think it's worth hiring a tour guide who can explain the history and the stories around when the museum nearly got ransacked a few years ago. The guides, mostly casual workers, stood arm-in-arm to defy the looters. Bathroom was ok. 3 wall sockets but no USB charging points. Mattress firm and very welcoming. The bar area which is also the Reception was too smokey and we couldn’t stay. We enquired about a No Smoking area but there was none available. Buffet dinner was in a canteen (wouldn’t call it a restaurant) but like for breakfast nothing was hot; all options were tepid. The free hotel bus was welcomed although the hotel was only a 5-minute ride away.
