Set within the breathtaking scenery of a national forest is a ski resort famous for its deep powder skiing, family-friendly activities and après-ski entertainment.

Escape the crowds of Colorado’s popular ski resorts to enjoy a warm welcome at the Wolf Creek Ski Area. This mountain resort is a paradise for snow sports enthusiasts and receives some of Colorado’s heaviest snowfall. Choose from classic alpine skiing, snowboarding, Nordic skiing and snowshoeing. Wolf Creek Ski Area sits amid the picturesque Rio Grande National Forest, which is part of the world-renowned Rocky Mountains.

Prepare to carve through a skiable terrain of 1,600 acres (650 hectares) and 77 runs, the longest of which is a thrilling 2 miles (3 kilometers) long. Split almost evenly between beginner, intermediate, advanced and expert, the runs are suitable for all skiing abilities. Use the series of nine chairlifts, which provide quick and scenic transportation from the mountain base to the summit.

First-time skiers can participate in group or individual lessons with skilled instructors. Take advantage of the specially designed children’s ski school that’s perfect for kids to make their first attempts at skiing. Delight in their progress at the end of the day.

While alpine skiing and snowboarding are popular, find other ways of enjoying the mountain. Explore 6 miles (10 kilometers) of groomed trails suitable for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing. Speed across snow-covered meadows on a guided snowmobile tour.

During the daytime, enjoy a hearty meal at one of the varied restaurants located in the base area and on the mountaintop. Sip craft beers or mulled wine at a cozy lodge bar. Bring a picnic to eat on the sunlit terrace of the Base Camp.

Located in south-central Colorado, Wolf Creek Ski Area is a 20-minute drive from South Fork and a 50-minute drive from Pagosa Springs. Use the shuttle buses operating between the resort and these two towns or the free parking lot for those arriving by car.

Wolf Creek Ski Area opens from November to April and is a daytime resort only. Accommodation is available at the base area and in nearby South Fork and Pagosa Springs. Visit the resort’s official website for more information.
