Toyosaki Chura Sun Beach is an idyllic destination for visitors of all ages to relax, explore or play. With its broad 0.4-mile (700-meter) sweep of soft sand, the beach has plenty of space to spread out and enjoy the tranquility. Swim in the sheltered waters of the bay or join the locals and play exciting beachside sport.
Access the beach via the grassy foreshore that stretches along its length. The foreshore lawns are dotted with trees and pavilions, so you can enjoy the cool shade while spectating the fun and games on the beach. Beach volleyball nets are strung across the sand and are popular with locals and visitors alike. Ask the players if you can join in or gather your own team for some friendly competition. You’ll also find beach soccer areas marked out in the sand and basketball courts and other playing fields available on the foreshore.
Go for a refreshing swim in the tropical ocean waters. The beach is perfect for cooling off after an active session on the sports fields. Play in the gentle waters, which are made safe with marine safety nets and lifeguards. Kids will have fun exploring the shoreline and the shallows of this clean and sheltered beach. You can also rent beach equipment from the foreshore vendors.
Bring a picnic to enjoy on the grassy foreshore or pick from the wide selection of picnic shelters. Nearby, you’ll find the fun-filled Toyosaki Seaside Park, which has a great range of family-friendly activities. With its close proximity to Naha Airport, Toyosaki Chura Sun Beach is also a fun place to spot planes coming in to land. Make your way up the three-story observation tower to watch the planes coming and going from the airport.
Toyosaki Chura Sun Beach is a 15-minute drive south from Naha Airport in Tomigusuku City. The beach is open for free between May and October. Parking is available on site for free.
