Unfortunately, my check-in experience was disappointing. The check-in location is different from the property itself, which wasn't very clear. When I called because I couldn't find anyone, the staff member responded by asking sarcastically if I hadn't seen the sign on the door. After I reached the check-in location, no one was at the reception, so I called again. When he arrived, he said, "Are you the one calling me?" and then complained that he couldn't even go to the washroom. Throughout the check-in process, he came across as intimidating and responded sarcastically whenever I asked questions. As a non-French speaker, I also felt that I was treated less respectfully, which made the experience uncomfortable. While the property itself may be fine, the customer service left a very negative first impression.

We opted for the Gold plan and loved it! Breakfast was included, small plate appetizers and canapés and then dessert served in an exclusive common room from 5:00. Excellent service. But the hotel needs some refurbishing and updating. The desk chair in our room was literally shredded. This is a premium property. A wonderful and historic and perfectly located hotel. The Fairmount needs to give it some love.

Centrally located, ARC Hotel was great for our get get away in downtown Ottawa. Staff were great, accommodation was good.

Our July trip to Ottawa almost started with a disaster after a sudden booking cancellation at reStays, but ending up at The Metcalfe Hotel was a massive upgrade. My friend Cafer and I needed a place quickly, and the front desk staff were incredibly accommodating and got us sorted immediately. The hotel's design and attention to detail are top-notch—you can really tell they care about the guest experience. The five-story atrium lobby and the loft-inspired rooms have a fantastic, moody atmosphere that feels like a massive step up from a standard corporate hotel. The room was spotless, the beds were incredibly comfortable, and having a proper espresso maker in the room was a huge plus for our mornings. We also grabbed some great coffee downstairs at the Cocotte Bistro. Logistics were very straightforward. The hotel is right in the heart of downtown, making it an easy walk to Parliament Hill and the Rideau Canal. While they do offer valet, we opted for the nearby municipal parking, which was easy to navigate and had plenty of room for my Jeep Cherokee. If you appreciate a boutique hotel with thoughtful design and exceptional service, I highly recommend this place.
