The propery was spotless and free parking on site was a great bonus

"This was one of the best Inn's I've stayed at. The staff went above and beyond to be welcoming and friendly. The room was perfect, clean, bright and exactly as in the photos. The common areas were so inviting, there was outdoor garden spaces, indoor spaces with comfy seating for curling up with a book. The breakfast was amazing with many choices. I would highly recommend and I'm already try to plan another trip there."

"Great location - walking distance to town centre for shops and restaurants and cafes - short drive to beach. Had a takeaway from the Thai restaurant - very good
Accommodation was very comfortable and hosts very friendly.
Breakfast was put out for us to help ourselves in the pottery shop each morning and was a good start to the day with fresh fruit and croissants.
Reliable WiFi we were able to watch Wimbledon with no problems.
All in all a delightful stay and would definitely stay again."

"The hotel is lovely and modern, with contemporary furnishings, a nice bar, lovely pool and pleasant garden. My single room was fairly small but fine for a two-night stay. The TV, shower and tea-making facilities were great. The sink was in the bedroom rather than the en-suite shower/toilet, which felt a little incongruous but wasn’t a problem.
There wasn’t much space to put things once unpacked. Some coat hooks, a larger bedside table, shelf above the clothes rail or small side table would make a difference. The full-length mirror and décor were lovely.
Given the exceptionally hot summer, air conditioning would have been welcome, although the small fan generally did the trick.
Breakfast was lovely, nicely cooked and beautifully presented, with cereals, fruit, yoghurt and juices followed by a full English, vegetarian breakfast or mix-and-match. Tea was freshly made and served in a proper pot — gorgeous! It would be even nicer if tea or coffee were offered when seated rather than ordered with breakfast.
The lady running the hotel was amazingly friendly and helpful and also looked after breakfast. She did a great job but would benefit from someone helping take orders and reset tables. The hotel generally seemed a little short-staffed, with the bar and reception sometimes unattended.
Wonderful location, around five minutes from both beach and town. Overall, a lovely, welcoming hotel that I really enjoyed staying at."
"Disappointing that air conditioning broken but great that fans provided, curtains in rooms kept drawn and chilled water in rooms. Reception staff super helpful. Car park was full but provided permits to park on street for same cost.
Swimming pool great amenity with small paddling pool for little ones and separate swimming lanes for serious swimmers"
Holiday Inn Express Portsmouth - Gunwharf Quays by IHG
8/10 Good
"Stayed 5 nights , like the area and Old Town Portsmouth. The Hotel is in a excellent position in middle of Shopping outlet so close to bars and restaurants. The rooms are reasonable size ,the beds could be upgraded or a decent topper for the top of mattress also pillows were a bit lumpy. A reasonable breakfast was provided a full English type or cereals, toast jam and croissants also available."
"Property is old but very close to the Shanklin beach. Rooms initially provided were not clean but Manjot on the reception desk helped immediately to change our rooms. We unfortunately got the road facing rooms though we were hoping for sea view (as hotel name suggests) but informed that it needs to be mentioned in the request. And biggest disappointment: POOL WAS NOT OPERATIONAL."
"Enjoyed a lovely 3 night stay as a treat for my partners birthday (surprise trip!). Only booked this a few weeks prior and considering this is in the middle of the school summer holidays, we were lucky with the hotel and the price! Its more like a cosy BnB, great location, a wonderful 5 mins walk to the seafront, a few mins walk to the Chine. The hotel is bright & white, its a little quirky, staff are really lovely and the breakfast was lush, although a little on the early side (8am - 9.30am). The room isnt the biggest but absolutely fine, apart from the heat - but this is a very hot summer. We could have asked for a fan but we didnt. The bed was a little on the small side but my guy is super tall, so perhaps couldnt be helped. You can walk to Shanklin train station in about 10 minutes or so, there are bus stops about too but I found the bus service this year to not be the best unfortunately (just my view). Overall - a lovely little hotel which is good for the money."
"Hotel location is really nice by the sea. There appears to be enough parking. Staff is very kind and helpful.
Rooms don't have A/C which is massive downside.
Swimming pool is quite small but sauna, steam room and jacuzzi is nice.
Restaurant offers nice food with gluten free options too."
"I have just completed a three night stay at The Steamer, arriving on Saturday 01 August and leaving on Tuesday 04 August. I stayed in Room 3, which was a comfortable double room with its own terrace. The room was spacious and clean, with all the necessities needed for a three night stay. The shower in the bathroom was one of the strongest I have come across — practically a pressure washer — and certainly no complaints there.
If I were to nit pick, and this is purely personal preference, the bathroom floor had that clinical style vinyl safety flooring — the sort you would usually see in hospitals or changing rooms — and it was not really to my taste.
The terrace was a lovely addition. Watching the sun rise from there was genuinely peaceful, and you can really make the most of the views.
Despite being above a busy pub, you surprisingly hear very little noise in the room. Breakfast was included in my stay, and I can confirm that the offering was excellent. The full English is made from quality produce and sets you up well for the day.
Breakfast timings are slightly limited, running only between 08:30 and 09:30. This did not affect me too much, but I personally prefer a later breakfast option. Considering the pub serves breakfast to the public from 10:00 onwards, it would be nice if there was a little flexibility for guests. However, with checkout being at 10:00, I can understand why the breakfast window is set as it is.
I did not have any evening meals here, but seeing as p"
