"Location excellent, but starting to show its age."
We stay here regularly as the hotel is right across the road from the MCG and we are in Melbourne primarily to watch the football, however the rooms, hallways etc are starting to show the age of the hotel. The showers over the bath should be a thing of the past for a major hotel and to have the shower taps down near the bath spout, tucked in behind the glass panel makes it nearly impossible to turn on/off or regulate the shower without getting a face/head full of water. The staff are pleasant, the hotel foyer is lovely however we are always disappointed when bar prices in the lobby bar increase by sometimes double before and after a major football game. Yes we would stay here again due to the hotels location and for the fact that we know what we are getting. For the price it still represents reasonable value for money.

"Great Hotel"
The hotel is a beautifully refurbished old building with a warm, quiet, comforting feel to it. It is close to all the action - shopping, casino and transport is not a problem. Incredibly friendly, helpful staff. We stayed in the Intercontinental Club and thus had access to complimentary full breakfast (in either the lounge or down in the restaurant). Crazy good choice of food. The lounge staff were most accommodating and early evening canapes and cocktails were greatly appreciated. One of the best hotels my wife and I have ever stayed in.

"Moody, stylish, boutique indulgence."
We wanted to stay here because of it's arty/rock star/cool reputation, rather than at a large chain hotel. We loved the edgy styling and moody feel to it and it captured the essence of Melbourne really well. We got upgraded to a corner suite which was amazing. Huge room, huge bathroom, huge bath! Having not stayed in a regular room there I can't comment in them.
