2.5 miles from the end of the road to the cove.  Great hike through a jungle that leads to a beach covered in lava.  The hike then turns into a climb over lava, loose stone and boulders.
The cove is a nesting spot for Green Sea Turtles and passing Humpback Whales.

« Great little house next to the owner's house. Not a lot of space but cozy. Owner is easy to reach and answers questions quickly. Warm welcome. However the location is not that convenient as it is a good 25 min from Hilo, and the roosters and dogs of the neighborhood are very noisy at night... »

« We had a fantastic time at this vacation rental! The pictures don’t fully capture the experience—it felt like staying in a Swiss Family Robinson treehouse. The cats on the property were a huge hit with our kids, and the roaming chickens added to the authentic Hawaii vibe we’ve loved on other islands.The beds were comfy, everyone had their own space, the patio was great for meals and relaxing, and the outdoor shower was a fun touch. « Check-in and check-out were perfect. The beds and furniture were super comfortable. It was truly a tropical oasis to enjoy our time between visiting the volcano and the falls in Hilo. The cats made the stay even sweeter as they perched themselves on the lanai. Christina was a very attentive host and gave us lots of good ideas. We enjoyed walking to the cliffs at both sunrise and dusk for our zen with the waves crashing on the cliffs. It was such a nice change from the more touristy...

« We spent 3 nights at Raul’s guesthouse which felt more like a very spacious condo! It is safe with a gated driveway and a backyard that never ends! The fruit trees, the flowers and the landscape are absolutely stunning. Now for interior, there are only positives critiques to be said here. Everything is high end, they provide you with so many things that it is easy to cook your own meals! They have lots of pots and pans, dishes etc… but no condiments. Every inch of this place is taken care of....

« Simone provided detailed information on getting to the place, parking spot with pictures which made it very easy even though we arrived late. The place itself is beautiful with a lot of nice touches. It was themed true to the pineapple loft name :). There were a lot of beach gear for us to use, books to read, indoor games to play. The kitchen had all the essentials needed to make a meal and the fans and window ac in the bedrooms helped us sleep well. The place itself felt like home. »

"Environnement bof quartier plutot glauque malgre le centre ville et resto a 500 m. L hotel est plus que vieillot. Peu etre typiquement hawaïen. Les fenetres ne ferment pas. Le parquet est olus qu abîmé. Pas d eau chaude pour se laver. Pas de wifi dans les chambrres. La literie est plutot bonne. Le petit dejeuner simple mais bon et le personnel la dame est tres gentille."

"Accueil très sympathique au Check-In avec une jolie réception. L’espace extérieur est super avec un accès à la piscine (un peu petite). L’hôtel en lui même aurait besoin d’une rénovation, surtout au niveau des chambres et des salles de bain, mais le confort est tout de même là avec une literie de qualité. Attention au ménage, notre réfrigérateur n’était même pas vidé à notre arrivée. De plus, le service « voiturier » est à revoir ! 25$ par nuit et le chauffeur n’a même pas été capable de conduire notre voiture prétextant que notre véhicule était en panne… pas très professionnel. Nous avons passé une nuit dans cet hôtel, c’était un très bon séjour dans l’ensemble, malgré quelques points à revoir ! "
