Sunset views were amazing. My room was great and housekeeping staff were awesome, help me decorate for my hubby bday, got us champagne and a cake. The gym was ok, some machines did not work or broken. The massage therapist was not so good, we booked couples massage and it wasnt worth it. I loved everything about the resort except entertainment nights were boring, dj could play better music (excluding Riu party) and the buffet was my nightmare. Same food offered every night, every station, the chef left red meat medium well, still saw blood. My husband and I had to pretend we had reservations to go try one of the restaurants on property. The best restaurant was the asain fusion restaurant next to the buffet. All the other restaurant food was blahhh. I spent 8 days here. I know it was off season but why food options not rotated daily. The drinks were mediocre, the juice was not even fresh it was powered mixed in water to taste like pineapple juice. Just the food was why I put 3 stars. The pools were great, staff were great, (Jambo, Jambo) beach walks were great, the buffet food could use upgrade on selections and taste. I came to Africa to eat African cuisine and flavors, the buffet offered American and other country food. Give me Zanzibar authentic food. I would refer others to this resort for everything else except food & spa.

We’ve traveled extensively around the world, always seeking privacy, personalized service, and genuine luxury rather than large, impersonal resorts. Xanadu Villas exceeded every expectation. From the very moment they picked us up at the airport, the experience began — and it was nothing short of amazing. Every detail, from the warm welcome letter to the effortless transfer to the villa, made us feel that something truly special awaited us at Xanadu. When we arrived, it felt like stepping into a secluded dream — intimate, elegant, and perfectly curated. Our private butler, Thomas, was exceptional. His attentiveness, professionalism, and kindness elevated the entire experience. Every detail — from the candlelit dinners to the spontaneous, thoughtful touches throughout our stay — reflected an impeccable standard of hospitality. And the food — truly unforgettable. I can confidently say it’s among the best I’ve ever had in my life. Each dish was beautifully presented, bursting with flavor and freshness. We had a lovely and memorable stay at Upendo Beach Boutique Hotel. The location is simply beautiful, with breathtaking views and a peaceful ambiance. The staff were exceptional—especially Theo, who was incredibly helpful and welcoming throughout our stay. Although I made an error in my booking by reserving the two-bedroom villa for only two adults, the hotel management showed great understanding. They kindly offered a generous solution by asking us to cover only 50% of the additional amount, which we truly appreciated. The villa itself was spacious, clean, and beautifully designed. The entire property is well-maintained and provides a wonderful boutique experience. One recommendation: it would be great if a pool heater could be added, as the water can be quite chilly in July. Overall, we enjoyed our time very much and thank the team for their hospitality!

There was no pool and aircon was only in room, possibly in the resto downstairs, but in no common areas. Lovely staff, good food, nice decor and art. Lots of stairs. Airport shuttle was reasonable and good.

Amazing staff who looked after us so attentively throughout with amazing and friendly service which made the holiday. The property is immaculate on a beautiful beach setting. Very quiet and perfect for a relaxing break. Food was varied and kept interesting. Fantastic breakfasts in particular though meat and fish dishes were a bit disappointing - generally very tough and left us feeling guilty at having to leave food that could’ve been improved. But overall a fantastic stay and would not hesitate to return
