Filled with cobbled streets, chilled-out beaches and a picturesque marina, this resort destination is one of Portugal's most underrated.
The Jewel of the Algarve
Situated along the Algarve's Atlantic Coast, Faro and the Ria Formosa Lagoon have a rich history of attracting visitors. Its earliest settlements date back to the 3rd century, and Europeans have been flocking to the region in droves throughout the years. A spate of catastrophes kept the area from maintaining a large number of historic structures, but the Cidade Velha offers a charming glimpse into the spirit of its old town.
Portugal's Coastal Treasure
Times, of course, are always changing. Faro vacations now bear little resemblance to the adventures they were as recently as 100 years ago, and the city's reputation for lively nightlife, laid-back beaches, and alfresco cafes make it a treasure for escape-seeking tourists. You'll find something distinctly Portuguese about the hotels in Faro — a certain local spirit that too many resort towns manage to miss — but it's easy to let the world slip away if you're in the mood for pure tranquility.
Weather to Write Home About
Because they're perched in the country's southernmost region, the all-inclusive hotels in Faro come with one major perk: incredible summertime weather. The tropical temps don't last all year, but even the winters are pleasant and mild. Plus, the cooler months are a great time to score cheap deals and packages on the most luxurious Faro all inclusive hotels.
Top Things to See and Do
We've got three words for you: beach, beach, and more beach. Faro is a fabulous place to kick back with a cocktail and soak up the rays, but more activity-focused travellers will find plenty to adore in the outdoor cafes of the cobbled Cidade Velha, the guided tours down the Ria Formosa and the traditional restaurants perched along the shore. You could also spend an entire afternoon exploring the Moorish and Iberian buildings, but make sure to rent a car in Faro for trips to nearby Lagos and Silves.

We stayed here one night, to be closer to the airport. It was clean and convenient which is all that we wanted.

The hotel renovations were under way & believe any time a hotel is going through renovations or major changes then prior notification ...
The staff was lovely and very attentive. My room was clean and bed very confortable
Welcoming staff and much better than the pictures. Big breakfast. Large room. Great amenities. Close to town.
It’s basic but it’s cheap, clean and close to the main bar street and amenities.
Excellent position near bus and railway station and easy reach of shops restaurants and facilities. It is a simple hotel, which suited us. We requested kettle in room, which was supplied. The immediate surroundings are not very preposessing, but in fact the street seemed safe and quiet.
Nice bright hotel, fast and efficient check-in, though I had to change rooms due to broken fan heater (much needed in cooler evenings in November). This room change was arranged quickly by reception staff. They were very helpful and followed up to ensure I was happy. Breakfast was very good with ...
