Do NOT book this property. ​ We booked a stay at Spencer Bridge By AFL for July 25–26, expecting a smooth experience. Instead, we were left stranded with zero advance notice. ​The host cancelled/refused our accommodation on the very day of check-in without giving us prior warning. Offering a refund after leaving guests stranded on the day of arrival does not fix the massive inconvenience, stress, and expense of having to scramble for last-minute accommodation. ​To make matters worse, while we were trying to sort out our situation, we personally witnessed three other families stranded outside facing the exact same issue. This is not a one-off mistake; it is a clear pattern of unethical behavior and systemic double-booking or last-minute cancellations. ​ Properties like this ruin trips and exploit travelers. Spencer Bridge By AFL should be completely removed and banned from listing on Expedia and other booking platforms. Save yourself the headache and book literally anywhere else.

The hotel is very nice looking, some might say “over the top” but we did not mind that. The bedrooms are very nice, spacious and well appointed. This hotel is supposed to be 5* and from its decoration and furnishings I can see where that rating comes from. However, the breakfast is very poor. Lack of choice and not great quality and everything is buffet and serve yourself. We were also very surprised to find no restaurant in the hotel except for Pizza (we stayed Weds and Thurs night). We had one other issue on arrival which was we were given a different room from that which we had booked. They did correct this but only because we expressed how unhappy we were. At £200 per night you would expect have a restaurant and not have to go to the pub, a 5/10 min walk away and hope they have a table available. You should also expect a good breakfast, freshly cooked to order and served. As nice as the room was, because of these factors we would not return.
