"This is a retreat hotel for treating people with cancer. I didn’t know that until after I arrived. I didn’t see anyone who was unwell. We I researched the property I realised it’s history. I thought wow, a massage chair in my room, cool European shower with jets etc, a gym and a chapel where I could light incense and candles. Filtered water is available, a fireplace in the eating area and very clean bedding. Whilst the room was small with no wardrobe, I only had an overnight bag and could cope....

After 2 hours of us attempting to get the unit to work (in a room that was VERY cold due to the prevailing ambient conditions in Katoomba) ...I mentioned this concern to the reception staff member, and we were relocated to another room where the air condition unit did work. Our concern is that the reception staff did not apologise for our inconvenience, nor provide service with a smile. We were made to feel like we were a burden to the reception...

A gem in Katoomba.
"It is a heritage building so she is an old girl with creaky bones but is part of the history and landscape of Katoomba. Excellent location right in town. Walk from train. Walk to tourist sites. We had late check in and it was very easy. Upkeep of an old building is ongoing and painters were refreshing the common areas while we were there. We loved our quiet midweek stay. We stayed in room 9 up 2 flights of stairs, the room was huge, light and airy! It had air conditioning heating and a king sized comfy bed. I would take out the spa in the bathroom as it is difficult and a bit dangerous to climb into for a shower and would save water. There was a bottle of wine left for us to toast our stay."
