Royal Hotel

Zeev Vilnay 8, Jerusalem - Map
"Great hotel, superior service"
My husband, brother and I spent two weeks here when we had a birth in the family. The Royal was full of groups and so they put us in the main hotel, but we were still dealing with the same employees. We had to arrange a family event at literally the last second, and everyone involved extended himself to the nth degree to make it work for us. We also found that the housekeeping staff, front desk, dining room managers and staff and everyone else went out of their way to be helpful and responsive. The gym and health club have been updated since the last time I was in them (20 years ago) and have lots of modern equipment and a pleasant atmosphere. I didn't use the pool, so cannot report on it. The lobby was undergoing renovation and was due to be reopened just after we left. We ate in the coffee shop and thought the food was good and the staff was attentive and receptive. Our room was clean and comfortable. The towels were proper bath size and fluffy, the shampoo and conditioner were as good as the ones I use at home, the body lotion was also good quality, there was plenty of storage space, and the room included free internet, a refrigerator and a safe. Some rooms get free internet and some don't. I don't know what the criteria are, but ask at the desk about your eligibility. What's confusing is that you have to sign in to the wifi and agree to be billed, but if you are eligible for free internet they will automatically credit your bill with the same amount they debit it.

"Clean room but no amenities"
The Ramada is a clean hotel in a decent location but not much more. We wanted a hotel with a good hechsher close to where my daughter is in school. That we got, but it is not a luxury as it purports to be. The air conditioning cannot be controlled from the room so we were very warm the entire time even though there is a thermostat in the room. We were provided with towels and robes. The second morning, one of the robes was taken by housekeeping. The next day the second was taken as well as some of the towels. I went to the desk to ask for replacements and 2 robes were delivered but no towels. The next day both robes were gone again as well as one towel. The robes never returned though the towels finally stabilized (we were there for 9 nights). There was no clock on either nightstand. One morning, I was coming back to my room at 8:45 am and housekeeping wanted to come in and clean. I told her we were still in the room and she said "but I want to clean now." She seemed upset that we were not ready to leave that early in the morning. Location is fair but if you are relying on buses, beware that the nearest stop is 2/3 of a mile away, uphill. We did a LOT of walking. Again, nice clean hotel, but that's about it.

"Reasonably priced kosher and comfortable "
The staff were very welcoming and helpful as we arrived late so they kept dinner open for an extra half an hour and took our bags up to our rooms. Food was lovely, as good as in any expensive hotel. Breakfast buffet is a real experience with salads, croissants, eggs, even omlates and ice cream one one morning. Beds were very comfortable and we had a door between the rooms so it was like having a flat for the family. Only drawback was the distance from attractions, but for the price you wouldn't expect to be next to the Kotel. There is also building work next door, but it didn't bother us as they start work only at around 8am and by then we were always up.

"Wonderful Time!! "
I had a lovely time yet again at the Crowne Plaza. The hotel is clean and there is housekeeping twice a day. The lobby is great. Swimming pool is Olympic size and the gym is up to date with nice steam and sauna. The FOOD is just unbelievable, DELICIOUS, and fit for a king and the hotel is truly sensitive to people with food allergies and dietary restrictions like gluten free and sugar free. Breakfast includes all you can eat buffet with cheeses, fruits, salads, omelet bar etc. Dinner is just mouthwatering with grilled meats, lamb and chicken to perfection. Customer service is top notch at this hotel. Miri H, Food and Beverage Manager, accommodated our requests and got us everything we needed. All the staff goes out of their way to make the stay enjoyable. Above all, hotel is Children friendly. Thank you!

"Decent price. Good enough."
Not bad. Booked it for the pool. Spoke with the Expedia agent for an hour to do the flight and hotel booking. Turns out the pool is only open 2 months a year! Little outdated, but good enough. Friendly staff. You need to iron in the laundromat! Ok though.
