“A Very Pleasant Stay”
We stayed at this hotel for five nights during the second week of November. It being off-season, the hotel kindly upgraded us from a standard double to a suite, at the price of the double. The suite was very comfortable and well appointed except that it did not provide adequate light for reading outside of the bed area. Much of the hotel is set back from the busy central square of Toulouse, which makes it both centrally located and quiet for the visiting tourist. The staff was very pleasant and helpful, in both English and French. The restaurants associated with the hotel, including its breakfast room, seemed unnecessarily expensive to us, so we ate our meals, particularly breakfast, in establishments on the surrounding streets, which are many and varied.
“Very central - difficult to access by car”
Matched with star rating. Hotel is central and effectively within a zone where pedestrians have priority - so access by car is slow. Would not be suited as a bnase for a touring holiday. Location is ideal for seeing Toulouse.
“Le Grand Hôtel de l'Opéra : à ne pas manquer !”
Tout le personnel est particulièrement aimable et prévenant. L'hôtel est merveilleusement situé et il est tout à fait calme. L'atmosphère y est très "cosy".
“Can't wait to go back again & again”
Lovely french hotel with excellent staff, in a great location.
“Excellente prestation”
Très bien situé (on l'a choisi pour ça en même temps...), l'accueil était parfait, la chambre également. Avec tout le confort espéré.
“Excellent hotel”
This hotel provides traditional top quality service. The room was large, handsome, well maintained and comfortable. The staff was numerous and extremely helpful in every respect. The lobby is classically old fashioned, but given the staff and general setting, we found this to be a wonderful place to stay.
“peaceful and yet centrally located”
This is a quiet, well-run hotel in Toulouse's main square. The combination of quiet and centrality and a decent price left us quite happy. Our room had a kind of dark wood / red velvet theme which was also entertaining. This is a good place.
“Hôtel a recommander”
“Pleasant, but not quite as advertised”
I enjoyed my stay at the Grand Hotel del Opera. The public rooms are small but opulent in an old style, the service was excellent, and the room itself was luxurious, draped in rich fabrics, and decorated with an excellent series of Matisse drawings. The bathroom had sufficient marble. However, the marketing would have you believe that the hotel fronts on the Place du Capitole, the large open square that is the heart of Toulouse. In fact, there are only three rooms that front the square; the rest are buried in a building that lies behind the facade on the square. The hotel evidently rents space on the building that is actually on the square for their prominent sign. My two windows opened on a narrow street leading into the square. But if you are out and about, the position of your windows will not matter so much. One other positive note: excellent soundproofing, an important advantage for jet-lagged travelers.
“One night in toulouse”
Only stayed for one night, so did not use any of the hotel's facilities. Service was good at reception, but porter was very busy when we arrived so carried our own bags from the public car park (they said they would have helped but thought I would be waiting for some time). Room was very red and not much day light, but for one night fine. Location was excellent for exploring the city
