“Very nice hotel!”
The hotel is very nice & clean with many fun activities to keep anyone busy! The staff is very friendly aside from the housekeeper in the gym that walked off with my coach sunglasses. So FYI if you sit something down it might get legs and walk off. The pool area is very large and you will find a nice spot to lounge/tan without a problem. They have a show every night at 9:15 and they are REALLY good actually, very impressive dancing! The buffet had so many options even someone as picky as myself had many options. The Capri & Los Arcos restaurants are the best! Don Quijote was not that good in my opinion. You can order more than one entree and I would suggest this since the portions are rather small. Sunset grill is also good for a snack during lunch or early evening. They have pizza, tacos & ceviche there.
“I am going back.”
Hotel and staff was outstanding. Loved the location, but if there was a drawback, it would be the distance to town. Taxis get expensive.
“Have returned trip planned?”
What I found at Barcelo Pto Vallarta was a helpful accommodating staff, a lovely setting outside town right at the center of the Banderas Bay and a splendid buffet with food choices giving gluttony a new definition. I not only was given an up-graded two room suite but was pampered and spoiled beyond description. Though all-inclusive, a dollar tip goes a long way to expressing gratitude and assuring increasingly attentive service (staff remember are extremely poor and work long hours for little pay). The Italian restaurant was the best of the three "fine" restaurants and easily accommodated a last minute reservation change. The buffet though offered everything imaginable and had in my opinion equal or better entree choices than all the restaurants which prepare in any event a lot of the buffet selections. The menu allowed for low-fat eating, salads, tropical fruits..., or Mexican specialities like Chiliquiles Verde or Rojo and tamales. You can have made to order dishesand every seafood imaginable. For kids there are known favorites. For those enjoying shows, there is one nightly. I'd recommend the Speed-boat Safari day trip. One of the best day-trips I've ever experienced including boat bay tour, horse back riding to a waterfall, snorkeling and a beautiful end-of-the day meal on a secluded beach with hammocks, mats and alcohol. Also greatly enjoyed a canopy tour reccommended by our Expedia hotel agent. We're already planning our return trip!
“Best vacation so far!”
This was our first international trip and it couldn't of been better. The hotel was beautiful and very inviting. I was a little nervous going down there because of some of the bad reviews on this and other sites, and other people saying "don't drink the water!" I had absolutely no problems and neither did anyone we were with. For anyone considering going to this resort I suggest getting the Club Premium suites. They are so much nicer and they give you free bottles of champaign and tequila and a big plate of fresh fruits, at no charge! Plus the minibar is all free! As with almost any all-inclusive resort its not completely all-inclusive but the basic stuff like food and drinks is all free. If you want more things like a massage (which i highly suggest) or a bottle of wine, it will cost you, but its so worth it! We were there for 5 nights and I could have stayed another 2 at least, i really didn't want to go home. I HIGHLY recommend this hotel.
“Everything you could want in an all inclusive.”
Fabulous resort, great location, good food, excellent service. One of the best rooms we've ever stayed in on a vacation. I will definitely be returning. Many extras such as poolside and beach drinks service, unusual for all inclusives! Fantastic staff..can't say enough good things about the employees! I even enjoyed the buffets and both of the specialty restaurants were excellent with world class service. A great vacation!!
“Absolutely loved it!”
This is a beautiful hotel in a beautiful setting. I went for relaxation and that is exactly what I got. If you are looking for a jumping nightlife this is not the place for you yet, you can take a cab into town for that. This hotel has the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in. I went with my best friend who has sleeping problems and even she slept. We can't stop talking abut the bed!! The staff was wonderful, the food was very good and plentiful. Even alcohol is included in the all-inclusive. There is a tequila factory across the street and up the hill and a souvenier area right behind the hotel. There is a secure entry and the hotel does not sit right on the street as so many others do, all of this adds to the peacefulness. In addition it is not humid something that I took as a blessing being used to New Jersey summers! I would definitely go there again. Like I said if you like a lot of activity and noise this place is not for you but, if you are capable of relaxing this is not to be missed. My 16 year old son who is into mopeds and all that other stuff would not have done well here but again, this was my vacation to relax and I did. I have traveled all over the world and this is one of my top vacations yet.
“paradise”
great motel, great service, great food.
“Great property, fantastic location!”
I would go back today if given the opportunity. The property is beautiful, the service was excellent, the rooms comfortable, the beverages cold and tasty, and the fishing in the area that time of year is excellent. A group of 5 of us stayed for 10 days in late November and not one of us ever complained about the hotel and it's amenities. Of course after 10 days the buffet gets a little tiresome but the specialty restaurants offered more variety and no one went hungry or thirsty. The bars all had top shelf name brand liquor, you just needed to ask. One of our party was a 14 year old girl who at the end of the vacation asked, "Can we come back here next year?" I think we probably will...
“Exellent hotel would go back”
First the staff, nicest people i have ever met very helpful eager to please, food no complaints something to eat all the time, shows at night were great beach nice .
“Mismaloya Lover”
This was our first time to Mismaloya and we loved it. Great small town feel, not the tourist Mexico you get in Cancun. Small roads curve around the Sierra Madre Mountains. Great views, however, not good water to swim in (common in Mexico since the hurricane). You will not be dissappointed with Barcelo.
