The Barclay Hotel was built in 1926 by the New York Central Railroad; today, InterContinental New York Barclay is restored to its neo-Federal style, offering historic charm with modern amenities. In its time, the hotel has hosted a range of well-known guests, including President Ronald Reagan, Nelson Mandela, Bette Davis, Marlon Brando and Ernest Hemingway.
This New York hotel features the Barclay Bar & Grill, a restaurant featuring elegant light and healthful Continental fare with inspiration from southern French cuisine; the restaurant serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The Barclay Bar serves wine by the glass and seasonal cocktails. Room service is available 24 hours a day.
Guests receive complimentary access to the third floor health club, a 1,500-square-foot facility offering fitness equipment, a sauna and steam room. In-room massages are available; advance reservations through the concierge are required.

“Just what we wanted”
Everything we wanted from our visit. Quality of food and service was first class.

The hotel was beautiful and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The bathrooms were a little tired looking but I didn't go to NY to spend too much time in there!!

The hotel is very well situated few blocks from Rockefeller Center, 5th Avenue, Central Park . The staff is very professional, friendly and excellent. We got what we've asked for and even better. They try to accomodate the clients very nicely. Great service !!!!! We will come back !!!!!
“Intercontinental - The Barclay - good choice.”
Well located. 2 minutes from Grand Central Station and only a short walk to the Rockefeller Centre, the shopiing on 5th Avenue and Time Square. Whilst being well located it's a step back from the more centraly located hotels on Time Square which works well as it gives you a little more peace and quiet away from the hussle and noise of a busy location. Being placed in midtown its also easy to walk up to Central park. Almost art deco in design and one of the NY hotels with character and history rather than a state of the art mordern version, but very well maintained. You can imagine sitting in the bar sipping cocktails in the 1950's very easily. There was another more modern Intercontinental just off Time Square but given the choice we liked this one for character, depends what you're after.

“Excellent hotel !”
The hotel lobby was very impressive. The lifts worked great. The room was immaculate and the bed very comfortable. The bathroom was fine. The staff cleaned the room regularly and towels were replaced daily. All the staff We encountered were pleasant and helpful. Overall a very good experience, would go again !!
“Midtown hotel”
We stayed at the Intercontinental for one night for a brief visit of New York City. The hotel is about five minutes away from Grand Central and just a few blocks away from the Rockefeller center and Times Square. The room was quite spacious and very clean.
