“A great hotel at a good price”
All staff were very friendly and accommodating. The complimentary breakfast had lots of options and was available for convenient hours. There was an ATM and vending machines available downstairs with reasonable (if not lower) prices for the area. The rooms are small (as expected in NYC) but the furnishings were nice and the water was always hot. I also felt safe during my stay and felt that the hotel went out of their way to recognize guests. The area is in a convenient location for walking and two separate subway entrances for different trains within a block. It is only a few minutes walking to Penn Station, Madison Square Garden, Macy's, Empire State Building and the Flatiron building. There are several good restaurants in the area, but the McDonald's on the corner is really the marker for knowing when you're getting close to the hotel. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone staying in NYC for affordable pricing and a good atmosphere. I plan to stay here again in the future.
“Ideal place to stay”
hotel is in a very good position easy walk to Times Square. Lovely clean sheets bathroom good size and room quite big for New York. Breakfast was very good with lots of choice. Would definitely stay here again.
“Great Place”
Great hotel for the money. Close to subway stations. Quiet, would stay again
“Ideal Short-Break Accomodation”
We flew into Newark so caught the train to Penn station, our hotel was only a couple of streets away so was easy and cheap to get a cab there. There was a problem with our booking, but this was immediately resolved without any prompting by an upgrade which had been planned prior to our arrival only subject to our approval - impressive. The newly allocated rooms were far beyond what you would expect from a three-star rated hotel. Very clean, spacious and with all the items you would expect. Everything we needed was there. The front desk staff were friendly, extremely helpful, and nothing was too much trouble. Replacement keys (we lost one of ours) was sorted without charge or complaint. There was no charge either when we dropped our bags early on our day of departure into their secure keeping, collecting them late afternoon to head back to the airport. Breakfast was complimentary and to a high standard, tea and coffee was available 24/7 and also for free! There's easy access to the metro with two stations close by. To get up to Central Park area was a brisk 30 minute walk or a cheap cab ride (West 28th street seemed to have a lot of yellow cabs make their way along it so there was only ever a short wait to stop an available taxi). We did all the standard tourist stuff and felt the hotel was well situated to reach everything with minimum fuss. Simply, if (when!) we return to NYC we'll be checking this hotel first for a room vacancy!
“Excellent value”
We've been to New York a few times before and probably overpaid to make sure we were near Central park or Times Square. Now that we knew over way around, and are used to the fact that you never get a large room in big cities unless you pay a small fortune, we decided to try something different. The Fairfield Inn & Suites ManhattanChelsea was absolutely ideal. It was considerably cheaper than other hotels we've stayed at, and the only inconvenience was that we were down at 28th Street, rather than being right in the middle of all the touristy stuff. Still, this is only a few blocks from Madison Square Garden, Empire State and The High Line, and the nearest subway is a 2 min walk away. Also, the rooms were amply sized (bigger than others we've stayed in at pricier hotels), free wi-fi throughout (along with free computer access near Reception), complimentary breakfast, and really good service from all who we encountered. And We were so pleasantly surprised. Could not fault it.
“Great Hotel, Friendly Staff”
The hotel is very clean and the staff are very friendly. In terms of the hotel's location, it's close to Macy's and JcPenny and a few blocks away from Times Square.
“Good Stay”
Room was great for the "bargain" price compared to some of the other hotels you could stay at in NYC. Staff very friendly. "Free" breakfast (yes I know you pay for the room). Comfy bed. Good location.
“One of the best places to stay, very convenient!”
The hotel location was very convenient. The subway (the yellow line N, R, Q) is just a block away and hard to miss. It was very easy to get to uptown or downtown manhattan. Coming out to from the subway when returning home you can see a large parking lot and a McDonalds which is the direction to hotel. It is hard to get lost here. If you walk from the hotel, turn right, left (i think?), you can head to 34st where they have lots of shops like Uniqlo, Gap, Forever 21, H&M. Good place to shop and buy clothes. There are other shops as well. If you want to walk even more further than that, you can head to Timesquare and get broadway tickets, eat at nice restaurants, shop or go sightseeing. If you take the subway often, you can pretty much go anywhere because the yellow line has lots of places to transfer such as the red line (can take you further up manhattan) and the green line(can take you to the grand central station, east village with lots of good japanese food). It is also easy to get to the Ferry, China town (canal street), central park, and rockefeller center. Free breakfast: boiled eggs, oatmeal, cereal, bagels, juice, fruit, nuts, yogurt, etc etc. there are some microwavable food like pancakes, sausage sandwich etc. It's free so it's good enough. Rooms: Big room. Decent view depending which side. a bit dusty on the shelves but decent enough. Hotel service: Caring. They will do everything they can for you. (Hold luggage, directions, taxi). Mica is the best!
“Great time in NY City”
I stayed at the Fairfield Inn Chelsea last weekend with my Mom and Aunt. I have stayed at Fairfield Inns before, and have always been happy. At least when selecting a hotel in NY - the name was familiar. This one did not dissapoint. The breakfast was very nice. The area was kept very clean, and there was a very nice selection to start our days in the big city. There is a subway station just at the end of the block, and that was great! We only had to walk less than a block - and that is very nice whenyou are coming back from a long day of sight seeing! There were plenty of taxis going by - any time we wanted. The room was small, but we were in NY and didnt expect anything bigger. One day when we came back in the late afternoon (4:30-5) our room had not been cleaned. It was a Sunday and she was in the next room, just getting to us. We went down and used the computer to find a nice place for dinner and when we returned, she was done. It really wasnt that big of a deal. We were able to walk a few blocks and find some very nice restaurants. It was fun to feel like we were part of the neighborhood going to the place on the corner to eat. The street the hotel is on is full of flower markets. Every morning we walked through rows and rows of flowers, plants and trees. It was fun to walk by and made it easy to remember what way to walk when you got off the subway. The staff was always friendly, and we felt very safe - even late at night.
