Bedding includes the Avalon's signature five-foot nonallergenic body pillows as well as Egyptian-cotton linens. (Dual-line telephones are at bedsides and in bathrooms, also.) Windows are triple-paned. Marble bathrooms come with Italian Frette bathrobes.

A hot and cold breakfast buffet is served 7:30 AM-10:30 AM each morning (surcharge), offering cereal, fruit, pastries, meats, and cheeses.
Serra Mediterranean Bistro - This deeply European bistro blends the cuisine of Spain, France, Italy, Turkey, North Africa, and Greece. The rotating menu reflects seasonally and locally available ingredients. Open for weekend brunch as well as breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Recreation
The hotel offers discount access to Equinox, a fitness center located three blocks away on Park Avenue.
Central Park, 1.5 miles north, offers a variety of recreational opportunities, including ball fields, tennis courts, rowboat rentals, horseback riding, and miles of trails for hiking, biking, running, and in-line skating. Rockefeller Center's skating rink, 0.75 mile away, opens in winter, as does Central Park's Wollman Rink. A golf driving range is located at Chelsea Piers 1.25 miles west of the hotel. “Great Hotel”
The hotel is beautiful, and the room was spacious and very clean.

The hotel was lovely. our room was very spacious and very clean. Maintenance was lacking in small things - like missing drawer handles, broken plug sockets but the cleanliness was outstanding. Staff were all very helpful and charming. Disappointed that the restaurant was only open for breakfast but still a great place to go.
“Amazing hotel bang in the middle of New York”
We stayed here for a week near the end of June 2008 and we were really impressed with this hotel. It is across the street from the Empire state building which was great and there was a subway at the other end of our street which was really handy. The rooms were cleaned everyday and we got fresh towels and stuff, the air conditioning was great too, made the room really cold which was good from getting away from the heat. There are lots of souvenier shops near the hotel and a pizza shop that sells great pizza by the slice right across the road. There was also a bagel shop that selt all kinds of food that you could take out or eat in. Other attractions like Macys or the flat iron building were just a 5 minute walk. We never had any issues with the hotel staff, they were really nice and the doormen were really helpful. If you're planning on using the subway get a map from reception, it's free and better to read and use than the ones you can buy. We had breakfast once at the hotel and it was brilliant, lots of choice and it was all delicious, maybe a bit pricey but it just depends on your budget. All in all ut was the best holiday ever and a great hotel, if we are back which i'm sure we will be we will definetly stay there again. Great location!
“REALLY EXCELLENT LOCATION”
This hotel is in a prime location, the staff are really helpful and you can book trips with them,it is a very quiet hotel with a nice bar.
“A New York gem!”
Having stayed in new York many times before, I was looking for a smaller boutique-type hotel with extra space in the rooms. This hotel was perfect. The junior suite was quite roomy with 2 beds, a separate sitting area and a very clean marble bathroom. Perfect for a family of four. The room was the quietest I've ever found in New York and the breakfast was a bonus. I wouldn't give the morning coffee a good rating but overall I'd stay here again. The price was reasonable as well.

Hotel rooms large,double sinked bathrooms.Sofa opened to sleeper-small sitting area away from beds when closed.Direct walk up 32nd St from Penn station. Only problem was 2 cabbies did not know where this hotel was despite directions-off the beaten path despite off 5th Ave.We stayed in a junior suite room-worth the price!!Continental breakfast included.
“lovely hotel ,very friendly staff, in excellent location to all sights”
we were very pleased with this hotel, the location was excellent, very close to empire state building and 10 mins or so from times square, but not in a very noisy street so you managed to get sleep at night! the staff were friendly and helpful, the room was clean and comfortable and a good size. i would recommened this hotel, it is in a good area that is easy to walk about in

“Comfort in the centre of New York”
We got a free upgrade to the suite from a junior suite and it was amazing....really comfortable bed, lots of space, clean....only downside was breakfast was extra but otherwise I loved it and would recommend it to anyone!
“Excellent room, poor restaurant”
Arrived very late and was automatically upgraded to Executive Suite. Check-in was excellent as was checkout. Room was very large and clean, with flat screen TVs and plenty of closet and relaxation/work space. Be wary of requiring Internet access, as I had to go to the lobby to get wireless connectivity. They claim hard-wired in-room access but it did not work. Avoid the restaurant at all costs.
