“Great Hotel for the Money”
It is hard to know what to expect regarding hotels on South Beach. From what I read, they are really hit and miss. Based on the price, I was scepticle about Winter Haven, but I was presently surprised. The location was excellent. The hotel was very nice and has been well maintained. The room was clean. The bed was comfortable. The bathroom was small, but it was not an issue. The only complaint that I have is the beach towels. They are the cheapest towels I have ever seen, and they are not in good condition. They leave little dimples all over your skin when you lay on them. It is the only thing that I would change. Everything else was great.
“fun place”
Great location , outstanding staff
“Great hotel and stuff”
Winterhaven is located on 14th street on Ocean Drive. A few blocks (7-10th streets) away from the real fun, but still very close. You can relax on the porch, have a few drinks and see all the people coming up and down. The room was very clean and spacious (except the bathroom that is a bit small). The personnel is very helpful in anything you ask, whether it is service related or just information. PS: I had an ocean view room (there was a sale going on), for which there is no point on my opinion, since I didn't spend much time on the room to sit by the window. I also could not see much of the ocean, but mostly the palm trees and ocean drive. Maybe is different if you are higher than the 4th floor..
“Old and uncomfortable hotel”
The room was too small for 2 double beds.
“Moderate hotel with great location”
Although the Winterhaven is not a 5 star hotel, it has a great location. It is directly across the street from the beach. The staff is very friendly, helpful, and accommodating. The rooms are small and moderate..nothing fancy. Surprisingly, I found the bed to be very comfortable. I slept comfortably and peacefuly during my three night stay. The hotel is old and a little outdated. I did notice some black mold/mildew on the shower tiles. There is only a shower and no tub in the bathroom. In addition, there is nothing separating the shower from the bathroom floor...no step, divider, or anything. Therefore, water was always all over the bathroom floor after showering. We did have a problem with our toilet constantly running. They had to fix it twice. The staff was prompt in fixing the toilet each time we called. The pros to staying at this hotel include: price, location, friendly and accomodating staff, breakfast and afternoon snacks, and the hotel's porch. The porch was great to people watch. The cons: it is an old, outdated hotel, rooms are small, and the shower issues. Also, they do not have a computer for guests to use to print airline boarding passes. We had to find an internet cafe to print them out. Although this was a small inconvenience, it would have been ideal to be able to do this at the hotel. If luxury is not a must for you, I would recommend this hotel.
“Good hotel for the price.”
This hotel is right on the beach, which is great. The hotel is pretty clean and the hotel staff are friendly and helpful. It is located close to good restaurants and clubs on ocean drive. However it dose't have a pool and the breakfast is not that great. The hotel is good for the price and I would recommend it to others. Just keeping mind that if you lookingfor the "marrio kind of hotel", this is not it.
“Not one problem”
This hotel has a great location - right across the street from the beach. It was clean and quiet. There were a lot of international guests here and everyone seemed relatively well behaved. Only minor complaint was the one toaster they had for their continental breakfast along with the quality of the bagels. Seriously. Beach chairs come with the room but there are rental - long chairs with matresses right across the street from 9-5 for 10 bucks. Helpful hotel staff was friendly despite them being busy. Can't go wrong for the location and price. No bugs that i saw in the rooms and my room wasn't facing an alley but i heard no noise. Toilet worked nice too. Also - there aren't any bookstores in south beach - i guess people are more into looking good than reading - so bring some books.
“Perfect Location, Nice Hotel, Our 2nd Time there!”
We had stayed at the Winterhaven previously a few years ago and my friend and I upon returning to South Beach, decided to stay here again. Great decision! So close (within walking distance) to the nightlife on Ocean Drive down in the smaller numbered streets. Walking distance to Espanola Way with tons of great restaurants. Walking distance to Lincoln Road with tons and tons of shops/stores and restaurants. The beach was beautiful as usual and was across the street, just a short walk. The hotel provided towels, in room safe, 24 hour coffee and chilled water, Continental breakfast with Belgain waffle maker, fruit, breads, cereal - all in all, would definitely recommend. Nothing flashy, but we didn't want that, and for the price, this was a great value, just like we remembered!
“Loved Winterhaven Hotel”
Great hotel, great service, perfect location!!! So close to the beautiful beach!!
“too noisy”
good: convenient location bad: super noisy, hear foot and car traffic all day/night long. room seems old and diggy, felt like a run down motel.
