“Great Location”
Beautiful hotel and great service 24 hours a day. They were most helpful to book theatre tickets, taxi, and give directions. Location perfect so don't take expensive taxi when Tube is outside your door. Internet is expensive, true everwhere in Europe and they don't have wireless in the rooms for the new MacBook Air to be used. I had to go down to business center. Europe/UK could really take a lesson in coming into the 21st century in that regard.
“Clean, Friendly, Great Location”
We stayed here from 28 Dec. 2009-11 Jan. 2010. I had stayed at this hotel in the past so knew what to expect. My friend and I took a twin room. As often found in British hotels, the beds had just a bottom sheet and a duvet. That was fine for us though we have found this type of bedding in other hotels to be lacking in warmth and coverage. Breakfast, at 12.50 GBP ($20), is too expensive for most Americans so we ate at Starbucks around the corner. From my experience during another stay, the breakfast at the hotel was very good. Another drawback at the Gloucester is that the mini-bar is just a mini-bar which I dislike (overpriced and filled with candy). I'm sure the majority of travelers would prefer a small fridge to store juice, yogurt, sandwiches, etc. that they can purchase at the many food shops in the area. Also, there is a lack of drawers / shelving for clothing storage although the closet was a good size. Also, it's time 4-5 star hotels in the UK gave guests free Internet access - it's almost a "must" for travelers these days. All-in-all, the Gloucester is in a great location in South Kensington in a neighborhood that offers shops, restaurants, pubs, museums, good transportation links (3 Tube lines, 2 bus lines and a sightseeing bus stop) but retains its residential feel. Staff were very friendly and helpful.
“"Will go there again"”
The Millenium Gloucester Hotel London Kensington exceeded our expectations for a first time stay in London. The hotel was the perfect place to stay b/c of its central location to the tube, city bus, stores, restaurants and museums. Hotel employees including the doormen, conceirge, reception desk, dining room service providers, cleaning lady for our room and maintenance were very welcoming and attentive to every need. In addition to the usual room amenities, they also have a heating element (in the bathroom) over which towels are placed to warm for them use.
“Very good place to stay.”
It is a very nice hotel in a super location for someone who wants to get around London. Lots of good and moderately priced resturants nearby. Plus a small shopping mall with a terrific grocery store. I'd stay there again.
“Good value and location”
We used the Gloucester as a base for travel around GB and France. Clean comfortable and even with the 1AM fire alarm a great place to stay. The bathtubs are fantastic!! Great for a soak after a long day traveling.
“pleasantly surprised”
Hotel service was excellent, everyone was courteous and helpful. Beds were incredibly comfortable, and I had seen that in other reviews. Exceptionally clean. Towels were immaculate and fluffy. Temperature control excellent, safe worked fine. One morning was noisy outside from the garbage collector trucks, but overall quiet. Affordable places to eat all around, underground right across the street, and best of all, a 24-hour mart across the street with food and drug store items. Only problem was a bit of a damp smell to my bed, although it was very comfortable and exceptionally clean. My daughter didn't smell anything.
“Good value!”
This hotel was great for our needs. Good location, right on Piccadilly, Circle and District tube lines, nice area, and very beautiful. We used three rooms. Concierge was especially helpful during the Heathrow bomb threat.
“Great location”
Well situated. Nice rooms, lighting needs to be improved. If all you require of a hotel is a clean, comfortable place to stay, this is perfect.
“Best Hotel of the Millennium”
This hotel was excellent. The rate was extremely reasonable and the room was comfortable. The best part was the location. Right across the street from the tube which had 3 lines. The street outside had a few fast food places, a supermarket where we stocked up with snacks or breakfast and an English pub right at the corner. The hotel also had a business centre where you could print your boarding passes as well as a nice gym. Would love to stay there again!!!!
“Great value for your money!”
Excellent location - around the block from Gloucester's tube station, very comfortable rooms, helpful and pleasant staff. Would definately stay there again when I visit London.
