“I'm going back as soon as I can”
30 yrs ago as a meeting planner I spent almost 3 weeks in Freeport and it was a nightmare. Staff was surly and slow, maintenance was not completed as requested just a bad scene. So I was hesitant about this trip but was willing to give it a go. What a turnaround. The staff at this hotel (not the same one as 30 yrs ago) and everyone we met either on the street or on excursions were absolutely wonderful to us. The treated us like family. The hotel is set on a waterway, but it is so easy to get to the beach from there -- water taxi's anyone? Staff was awesome -- quick service, pleasant, easy smiles -- just a happy experience. It you want to go snorkling, dolphin swimming, or use ski do's, it is so handy to set up. Meal prices are extremely reasonable for a resort -- I came back with lots of cash in my pocket. I just loved it. Thanks Pelican Bay and all of the surrounding business which made my trip a happy and lasting memory!
“Pelican Bay is #1 in my books”
The staff at Pelican Bay are most helpful. They go above and beyond what they need to do to help the guest. I can't ask for much more.
“The experience was more than i expected. We were very happy with everything. Cant wait to go back .”
The hotel is beautiful and the rooms are to die for.
“Lucaya's best Hotel”
I've visited Grand Bahama since 1989 and stayed in many places. Pelican Bay is the nicest hotel on GBI. I miss the activity that Freeport was once famous. The Bahamian Government seems to be directing tourism to Nassau as many places have closed and not reopened over the years. Pelican Bay and the new direct flights on Vision Airways make Port Lucaya a nice, quick, warm getaway but the excitement of vacationing there has been lost.
“On the top of our list”
The accommodations were extremely comfortable, the room (suite) was bigger than expected and the location of the hotel was perfect. You had easy access to stores, restaurants, entertainment, water sports and tours which were all within walking distance along the marina. Our stay was hightened by the friendliness of the staff and the unexpected delivery of danish every morning to your door. This will definitely be an annual event returning to Pelican Bay.
“Stress free holiday”
This was everything that they had promised, it was a fantastic holiday, relaxed and totally stress free. We arrived quite late in afternoon checked in to a lovley room, nice balcony with a fantastic view over the pool and bar areas, the room was large and comfortable, loved the bathroom, clean and huge bath towels, the ones that fit around you twice, soft and luxuries, the only issue we had was with the air conditing, we had to turn it off during the night as it was loud, but as we went in november it was not a problem as the evening was cool. All the staff here were friendly and helpful, the com breakfast was nice, we made sure that we went down quite early in the morning to make the most of the sun, we walked down via the side of the building when the canal was at its lowest and watched the marine fish swimming along the edge, they do ask that you dont feed them, but its so hard to resist, we did most mornings and it was an amazing sight to watch. The sun beds are quite hard on the bottom after a while but we just used two cushions instead of one. They give you a wrist band to get the ferry to the beach, but i would not bother, it was rubbish beach with loads of time share people trying to get you to sign up, just take a walk to the other beach its 5 mins away and its a lovley beach, i paid $10 for a sunbed for a whole day, plonked myself down and chilled for the whole day, did not have any trouble with beach people trying to sell me anything, unlike the other beach.
“see you next year!”
The staff was courteous and helpful. This hotel is convenient to everything. We loved the suites and plan to visit again next year.
“All the value of the Westin at a lower rate !”
Just Perfect !
“I booked another trip back 2 weeks later”
Great clean hotel with reasonable prices. The staff was friendly and helpful. I just booked another trip to visit again 2 weeks later.
“Best vacation in years!”
If you can imagine, EVERYONE with whom we came in contact was friendly, polite, welcoming. The hotel was lovely; great, filling continental breakfast. Great location; short walking distance to shops and restaurants. Excellent food at all local restaurants. VERY relaxing time; am already planning to return next year!
