Loved staying at the Barksdale House. Beautiful decor. Great little courtyard to enjoy a glass of wine or beer. I stayed in the carriage house. Large clean room, comfortable bed. On main floor a Keurig machine for your use. Wonderful helpful staff expecially Aleeyah! Highly recommend.

This is a historic home turned BnB so we are not expecting the same conditions as a new home or hotel, but the room had mismatched paint touch ups on the ceiling, the bathroom window trim had a different color than white, and the glass was dirty. These are not terrible, but easily fixable to improve the quality of the experience. Also, the landscaping could stand to have a little more TLC than it's getting.

Close to everything so park there an walk everyplace. Breakfast in the morning was excellent and came with room charge. Great selection and good way to start the day. Can be loud being so close to Charleston College but not that bad.

The place has an excellent location. It is quiet. Staff is friendly, floor squeaks but it’s expected the carpet to the stairs at the back house could use a deep clean

This property is about a half block from King Street. Quiet street, welcoming staff, good bed in nice large well appointed room. Afternoon tea, made to order breakfast, coffee available all day long. Convenient to restaurants, shopping, and historical sights. Convenient parking in the back at a reasonable rate. Good internet service

We loved the charm of this inn. The breakfast was delicious and the staff was super friendly and helpful. We ended up walking everywhere and only used our car when we went to a plantation tour and to get back to the airport. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here.

Southern hospitality at its best 😊
So much fun. Met friends used the parlor for games and enjoyed socializing with our party of 6. Every one of the staff was kind, helpful and extremely welcoming. The food was delicious and the ambiance sweet.

Beautiful old house within walking distance of downtown Charleston. The complimentary breakfast was a true hot breakfast cooked to order. Our room was spacious complete with an antique four poster bed. Snacks were available 24/7. Parking was in the back and off the street. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. Great stay. Would love to go back.

We enjoyed the historical feel of the hotel. Breakfasts were really good, too, and we appreciated the tea and snacks that were available all the time. The parking lot was not easy to find and there was no place to temporarily stop the car and look for it.

Wonderful stay!
Great place! The only thing is that there isn’t someone available 24/7 on site, no elevator for getting luggage up to rooms on the third floor and also a evening hour happy/snack time would be great for a place like this. However the cleanliness, comfort and amenities available were amazing for the price. Also great location for walking. Will definitely be back.

A quaint inn with old world charm. The staff is wonderful and the numerous breakfast choices are delicious. There are snacks and drinks available 24/7. So many restaurants and shops are just a short walk away.

The Best Value in Charleston
Check in was easy. The room was massive. They would service the room if requested. Safe, off street private parking. Breakfast was made to order off a full menu and even placed in a box to go or take to your room. This is the best deal for a hotel room on the entire peninsula!

Beautiful B&B very well located, walking distance of everything. Smiling staff. Very good breakfast, you can eat light or have a big meal with full of proteins. Just be aware that walls are thin since this is an old house and you can clearly hear people. Guests should be reminded to be quiet when walking in front of rooms especially when late or very early.

The staff was friendly and the breakfasts were very tasty. There is not a lot of room in the bathroom for toiletries and such, just a small shelf that had the towels on it. The room was clean and well kept. The room we were in was right next to a parking lot that was a bit noisy at times. I missed having 24 hour access to ice. It was only available from 7-7 and had to ask the staff for it.

We were in the back house not the main house which was less desirable. The shutters didn't close so the room wasn't dark. There was insufficient counter space in the bathroom. There weren't enough places to charge devices.

We have multiple outlets in each room however we are sorry to hear that you were not able to charge all of your devices. As for the shutters, we have shutters and blinds in each room and some rooms are thicker than others. We recommend calling ahead when staying at an old inn to ensure you are accommodated as much as possible. We hope to see you again in the future next time you are in Charleston.

Great location and wonderful, caring staff! First B&B I’ve been to where they have an extensive breakfast menu. Bed and room were very comfortable. They are pet friendly, but good luck finding any grass nearby for walking your dog!

Exactly What We Were Hoping For
We very much enjoyed our stay here. The location was great, we could easily walk or catch the DASH trolley in addition to Ubering. The room was clean, comfortable, and cool even with the high temps and humidity. Breakfast was excellent, and the service from all employees we interacted with was fantastic. I would highly recommend Barksdale to friends and family looking for accommodations on a trip to Charleston.

We stayed 3 nights in the carriage house room 14. The location was great. It’s within walking distance of everything in Charleston. The daily breakfast was awesome. The staff was super nice. The only complaint we have is with the housekeeping. We had to ask for fresh bath towels more than once. When I asked the housekeeper for fresh sheets I was told they don’t do that. Other places we stayed had daily housekeeping with fresh sheets and towels without us having to ask for it. The bathroom could use a little work. The bath tub drain backed up while in the shower. The AC worked good but was a bit noisy and dripped down the wall.
