A good value traditional country public house with 2 rooms for guests. We stopped for 1 night en route to York. Large en suite bedroom, the most comfortable king size bed ever. A second single bed for our daughter. No bar noise heard during the evening. We had a very appetising full English breakfast. Good conversation with the landlord and his wife. Beer garden, this would be great in summer.
We intend to repeat our stay on our next visit to York, longer this time. I would recommend Thompson's Arms to anyone.
Stayed at the Wentworth Arms overnight. The room was clean and comfortable the bed was lovely! There was some noise from the bar downstairs but it was a busy Friday night however, it did not bother us at all. We had a lovely evening meal, 2 meals of Fish and Chips, or should I say Whale and Chips for £12. There was also a good menu but we chose the fish and chips, washed down with a lovely cold, white wine. The atmosphere in the bar/ restraunt was very enjoyable and the staff friendly and helpful. Breakfast did not disappoint either. All in all a lovely place to stay and conveniently situated for a walk into Malton.
We will be going to Malton again next year and will definitely be staying here.

This is a very nice place to stay but Expedia unfortunately did not inform the owner of our booking. Thankfully she was very nice and had a room available but it could have been pretty awkward as we arrived at 10pm. I had made the booking 4 months previously and received confirmation which stated that my booking was confirmed and that there was no need to confirm by phone. I had stated our arrival time and given my contact details but none of this was passed to the owner. My account had also been debited.
So, in summary, I would happily stay here again but would not book online without also phoning the owner.
My wife and I stayed for a couple of nights for our wedding anniversary and absolutely loved the place. The owner Sue met us with a warm welcome and made sure we had all we needed. Not only did she cook an amazing breakfast each morning she also gave us recommendations of places to eat, (thank you so much Sue).
