“weekend celebration”

We arrived from on Friday night to celebrate the birthdays of my sisters who live right outside of Boston. The staff couldn't have been more helpful, and the location of the hotel was great for doing some Christmas shopping and just walking around. We had an excellent brunch at the hotel restaurant. I would definitely go back and recommend others do the same.

“an all american Boston hotel”

hotel all fantastic, reception a little cold in reception probably many regular guest- as an european maybe less interesting to them...hawklike ambiance on departure...what are all those men in uniform doing at departure time? took me over an hour to get help into a shuttle to the airport, as they were moore interested to get me into their pals´ cab? and so many of them maybe 8-10 gathering around...location and historical hotel compensate well...

“The only hotel I use in Boston”

This hotel offers consistently superior service for a very reasonable price. Have used it exclusively for the last 20 years, and will continue to do so.

Area recommendations
North End for the excellent Italian restaurants.

Small rooms, but they were beautiful. I'd go back in a moment. The staff were wonderful.

“Convenient location”

Although expensive, the Lenox is a very convenient location if you need to be in the Back Bay. The restaurants are excellent. One lack is a coffee maker in the room, although there is free coffee in the lobby in the morning.

“Nice Hotel”

Nice hotel, not great or spectacular in any way. For a 4 star hotel I did expect a little bit of a nicer room, but I wouldn't go so far to say I was disappointed. For instance, the bathroom toilet was the kind you find in public bathrooms and was tucked into a little nook behind the door making the toilet paper at an awkward spot to reach. The turndown service left a robe on the bed, but it had a big stain on the front of it - which was a bit offputting. The room was just sort of outdated and dim for my taste. The good points: The location is fantastic. Right off the shopping area and just a couple blocks from the park. About a block from the Copley T station, so it's easy to take the T from the airport if you want to save a few bucks on cab fare. As a single female traveler, I felt very safe at the hotel and walking around the area. They provide Aveda products in the room, which of course are amazing. The staff were always very friendly and helpful. There was free fruit and coffee in the lobby each morning, and donuts in the afternoon. The bed was comfortable and the hotel was pretty quiet so I never had trouble sleeping.

Area recommendations
As a solo traveler I would recommend staying in the Back Bay area. I thoroughly enjoyed every neighborhood of Boston and loved learning the history of each, but for hotels I'd stick with Back Bay.

“One of Boston's Best”

Fantastic place. Great room. Wonderful staff. Location superb. A "must" in Boston. Two slight remarks: The first day, we came back at 4h 30PM after spending the whole day touring Boston. The room was not yet made up! Really... in a hotel of that class. Something wrong with housekeeping. A newspaper at the door would be nice in the morning. Otherwise everything was perfect. Thank you.

“Unique Hotel in Prime Location”

My wife and I visited Boston over Veteran's day weekend and stay at this hotel. We were greeted at the door by old school doormen (thats a good thing) and a very friendly front counter staff. After check in, we went to the room and was surprised by how small the room was. (Single Queen) Being that we are hotel snobs, we tried to adjust to our normal space and creature comforts. During my hunt for a plug for my phone, I found old candy wrappers and dust balls the size of a dollar behind the furniture which was an immediate turn off. During the first night we found out that the walls and doors are very thin. Ill leave that part up to your imagination. The next morning we requested another room and was surprised with the difference in size. (2 Full Size Bed) This room was better in every respect and made up for the first. The walls and doors were thin, but the bed was no longer next to the door. I recommend this hotel if you are looking for something different and close to the bars/restaurants in Back Bay. You are walking distance to everything and only a 15 min ride from the airport. Taxis hover around the area, and everyone seemed to be friendly.

“Will stay here again”

This was our second time staying at the Lenox and when we come back to Boston we will definitely stay here again. The hotel is convenient to attractions, restaurants and shopping. Our room was smaller this time and wish there had been at least a club chair rather than one 'office' type chair to relax and watch TV at the end of the day; as it was, one of us had to sit on the bed. Staff once again went above and beyond if you had questions or needed anything. However when I phoned a few days before arriving I was told they would make a note and try to get us in before the 4pm check-in since our arrival was 9:30 a.m. But when we got there they had no such reminder and even though they said they'd call the moment our room was ready, no such call came as we walked around the area for 7 hours. Hotel is a luxury hotel and we were regulars in the Irish pub since it has great food and a cozy atmosphere.

Area recommendations
Boylston street with all it's shopping and the Market area.
Getting around
We went in the early spring and late fall to take in a Bruins hockey game. The first time we highly recommend the Old Town Trolley which lets you ride for two days hopping on and off where you want and allows you to become acquainted with the city. The second time we took taxis to more distant places but found most of what we wanted to see was within a 30 minute walk.
Must see
We loved the experience at the Bruins hockey game since we're big fans and always enjoy going early to eat/ drink at one of the many local pubs in the area. We did the Fenway Park Tour which was so interesting and filled with such history. Got to the Quincey market area again and did go into the Cheers restaurant on Beacon Hill..........the outside is pictures on the television show. We were pleasantly surprised at the ambiance inside as well as the good lunch. Since it was such good weather we had walked all around Boston commons which is a must.
Dining
We went to a few restaurants we had heard or read about : Charlie's Sandwich Shoppe for a homey diner atmosphere and filling breakfast and the Atlantic Fish Co. for a fantastic dining experience ( the crab cakes are the best I've ever had). We met relatives who took us to their favorite restaurant : Giacomos- small and casual but once again the Italian food was the best and prices can't be beat!
Events and shows
We love the experience at the Bruins hockey game since we're big fans and always enjoy going early to eat/ drink at one of the many pubs in the area.
